Guest chewie Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 O.k since day one ActivSync has worked like a dream with my PC, i only use activsync so i can explore the phone from PC and transfer files. I only ever used the "syncing" aspect of it once when i wanted to copy over my contacts. For some reason though, today i slotted in the phone and activsync DIDNT find the phone. I have been trying all day to get it to see the phone again but i just wont do it. The wierd thing is though, if i goto file > connection settings i can see under Allow USB connection with this desktop computer it says.. Status: Connected But at the top of the screen (next to the Get connected button) it says... Status: Waiting for Device to connect! When i goto the get connected screen it just says it cant find the device. I have tried unistalling activsync and everything. There are no USB or Windows CE device errors in device manager. Has anybody got any clue what so ever as to why activsync will refuse to see my phone?
Guest chewie Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 Forgot to add, when i go through the "get connected" section after it has said "Cannot find" device and just sits there, i disconnect the phone, the reconnect it and activsync makes the bloody connected bling sound, and the "Get Connected" box closes, but it still CAN'T see the phone!
Guest darren22 Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Newbie here. I've got the same problems. Got back from Xmas break, slotted in phone (once computer up and running) and it cannot see my phone. I have uninstalled and reinstalled active sync etc. Did you ever resolve this issue, and if so how? Or does anybody else have an idea how to resolve.
Guest SFMH3 Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Do you have the phone configured to send/receive email? If so, try reconfiguring the settings (just go through and confirm everything) and see if that helps
Guest navman Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Have you tried re booting the phone...it worked for me :D
Guest darren22 Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Thanks for your ideas. Whilst searching the microsoft forum I picked up on one step I had not tried. Reboot after re-installing Activesync. Once loaded (without cradle attached), I rebooted, once computer up and running I attached cradle, connected phone and activesync jumped into life. Other than this one snag very happy with phone, although looking forward to that update. ------------------------- The truth is out there.
Guest chewie Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Sorry to resurface an old thread of mine but i have got the same bloody problem as before. This activsync not seeing the phone problem seems to occur after i do some syncing. Ive only actually synced the phone twice but after i do i just cannot get activsync to see it. The only way i have managed to get it working is by doing a hard reset on the phone, thus i beleive that its a problem with activsync on the phone. I really dont wanna do another hard reset since i have loads of stuff on the phone and i just can't be arsed to go through and put it all back on. I have the reg editor on my phone so i was thinking if any clever peeps could think of a way i can set activsync to an "out of the box state". Hope y'all understand what i'm going on about, any ideas welcome cuz this is pissing me off and driving me nuts.
Guest chewie Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Just to add, i have deleted the partnership on activsync on the PC so i think if someone can tell me a way of "re setting" activsync to an out of the box state on the SPV then it will work.
Guest chewie Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 ^ Shameless Bump ^ Sorry but i need to get this sorted, heeeeelp me :)
Guest yatpeak Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 You could try installing a different version? I doubt it would help, but you could try it. Wyatt
Guest chewie Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 ^ Nice idea but it wont work, its an actual problem with activsyn on my phone not the PC. Hard reset is the only way i have found to fix, i assume this is because it restores activsync back to its original settings etc. Thats why i thought someone who was handy with reg editing etc might be able to think of some sort of solution!
Guest jhew Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 Does it give you any error messages when u plug the phone into the cradle?
Guest chewie Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 ^ Nope none, and windows makes the "USb bing bong" noise!
Guest jhew Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 Damn! It's just that I had a prob with activesync a little while ago, but got an error message. Was pulling my hair out until I realised that it'd changed settings in my 'internet options'. It had moved the connection check box from 'never dial a connection' to 'always dial my default connection'. As a result Activesync was only connecting to my phone when I had an active internet connection. I might be clutching a straws here, but it may be worth having a look in there to see if activesync has messed with any of your settings.
Guest chewie Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 Again nice idea, but there aint nothing wrong. Plus i literally sync the phone, took it out of the cradle, checked something and then when i went to put it in the cradle it didnt work :)
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 I have posted this post on: http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=768&start=0 http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=142&start=0 I have had exactly the same problem as chewie describes in the first post here http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=768&start=0 I tried a number of things on this thread: http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=142&start=0. But, none of them worked. I chose to do a hard reset eventually, and ActiveSync works as normal again. I'm doing things step by step on my phone and I intend to keep a lookout if it stops working, "what have I recently done that caused the problem?".
Guest f@boy Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Hmm, suddenly my phone didn't connect. And i tried everything, the only thing that solved it was rebooting the phone. :)
