MMS Configuration Problem

I got the Tanager and I have huge Problems getting MMS to work on my phone. Since the phone is not released in my country yet there is nowhere to get support.

I have got the settings I need from my operator and punshed them in in about 1000 different ways. The nearest I have gotten is that when I press send, The MMS screen appears and the phone connects to the GPRS Network. It starts sending (or maby just trying to send) and after about 30-40 sek it dissconnects and says that he placed my message in the drafts folder.

I know that its difficult to locate the problems since every operator have different settings but Ill list my settings here and if anyone sees something that seems wrong, then let me know :)

Data Connections:

Made a new profile under GPRS Connections named "Netcom MMS GPRS"

Connects to: The Internet

Access point: mms.netcom.no

User name: mms

Password: netcom

Primary DNS: None

Secondary DNS: None

IP adress: None

MMS Setup:

Netcom MMS GPRS

IP: 212.169.120.5

Port: 9201

Mmsc Address: http://mmsc/

Message Expiry: Max

Delivery Report: No

Read Report: No

Hide Sender: No

MMS Download: Auto

The one thing that I am most unsure about is if I am supposed to choose "connect to the internet" I know that I read somewhere that I was supposed to choose "connect to secure wap network" but if I do this I wont connect at all and only displays "unable to make call"

A friend also tried to send me a MMS but a white page with a link just popped up on my screen without any sound or action. I only hade the option to press "ok" and when I did it dissapeard, never to be seen again! ;)

As I mentioned my operator (Netcom) only have the settings for more common MMS phones. If you have a look at this page:

http://www.netcom.no/content/modules/Guide...Id=449&Back=YES

(Its in Norwegian, but you might understand it since the settings etc. is in English and ofcorse the names on the Phones :D

That someone from Norway who got one of the 8 Tanagers we got in the country and who is running on Netcom network is reading this might be to much to hope of but hope someone can help :(

Moved to Help and Advice.

My MMS GPRS data connection "connects to" points at "Orange MMS", the same as the first setting in MMS Settings. Maybe this is your problem?

Hmm.. could be. But the only options I now have under the "Connect to" is "The Internet", "Secure WAP Network", "WAP Network" and "My Corporate Network"

How did you get an option to point it to "Orange MMS" ? :)

Its an option under GPRS settings in Data connections, its a little roundabout though, my Orange MMS connection, connects to "Orange MMS", if that makes sence...

Might be because it got a bit late last night, but I dont understand ;)

Under the "Data Connection" menu I have 4 options wich say:

Internet Connection:

Points to "MyGPRS" (wich is my GPRS connection who works fine)

Work Connection:

N/A

WAP Connection

N/A

Secure WAP Connection

N/A

I can not find any GPRS settings in Data Connections. But if I go to: Menu > Edit Connections I get an option to choose the GPRS Connections.

This is where I made the Netcom MMS GRPS connection.

But when i go into this one (My Netcom MMS GPRS Connection) The "Connect to" tab only displays the options "The Internet, WAP Network, My Corporate Network & Secure WAP Network." The option to make it connect to my MMS GPRS profile is nowhere :)

That is why I asked how you got the option to point it to "Orange MMS"?

:D

Isn't the only reason we have Orange MMS is because the SPV has been customised by orange before giving them out. Orange SPV's have orange settings. This Tanager however has probably not got this option as orange may not have touched it!?

Just a thought

Ok, you are right. The Tanager is still untouched by Orange so I must figure out how to make the connection myself. Cool to get the gadgets first, but sometime it can also be a pain in the a** :)

I realised that, i was hoping you might be able to mirror the settings though :).

Can your service provider not offer any more help?

If the service provider is not orange, you can't use orange MMS! or can you?

Who is your provider? NetCom or something?

I have actually also been wondering the same thing. Can you use another operators mms service if you are not one of their customers?

Hei

I have been in contact with the person responsible for MMS in Norway, for some reason the Qtec can't recive MMS on NetCom, but they expect the problem to be solved in a week or so.

I suspect that MMS was not included as part of the Smarphone OS and this service was later supported by modifications carried out by the network providers. For Orange we use 'Connect to : Orange MMS' and the Smart network Philippines use 'Connects to: MMS connection'. Same thing , different name.

You could possibly download an ammended OS from one of the above network providers or maybe NetCom is to release its own OS update. This would depend on whether NetCom officially supports the Tanager.

I noticed in the registry that both GPRS WAP and GPRS MMS connections are created under EZOS who are a company that write WAP software.

Qtec can't recive MMS on NetCom, but they expect the problem to be solved in a week or so.

Are you saying that they are going to release an updated OS ?

What do they mean by "problem to be solved in a week or so" ?

As far as I know he said that it was a network problem, nothing with the phone software or settings.

I got the impression that they would fix it ASAP

Hopefully your right and you will downloading MMS in abundance in the not too distant future.

Bear in mind though that network may quote any known MMS issues at you, whether or not it relates to your particular problem. If the network has fully understood the SPV software and have an imminent solution then all is well :) , just be prepared with plan B if the problem persists.

Woohooo

I recieved my first MMS on Netcom today, well almost atleast. I subscribe to a free service from TV2.no sending you a mms a couple of times pr. day. Anyhow - I only recieved this heading, and there where no pictures or txt.

Tryed to send a mms to myself, but got a connection error, tryed it a ccouple of times, but it never mannaged to send it. But do you know what ? I recieved the message I sent to myself eventhough the phone gave me a error message.

I used the settings from the first page. Try sending me a mms and I'll send one back to you. My phonenumber +47 988 00 008

Markus  :D  :D
