Guest paulcaley Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 If I remove the battery to change the SIM card, will I loose the de-cert and all my other install apps. I know you can change the SIM card whilst having it connected to a power source, but I dont have it with me and wanted to know what would happen if I pulled the battery? Would they be lost?
Guest Bazz Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 It shouldn't effect it. My phone hangs occasionally and removing the battery is the only option. However if the phone gets confused it automatically fixes itself which can restore the applock. This has happened to a few users. There is no hard and fast rule to what "confuses" the phone but pulling the battery off can't really be good for it. Either way you will not loose apps you have installed (unless you really do something wrong and have to hard reset it), but you may not be able to run them. Un-applocking again requires a hard reset which will make you loose your installed programs. However, remember that unless you have your phone sim-unlocked you cannot use an non-Orange SIM card. The old removing battery trick worked as the phone booted up using the Orange SIM, then you were able to remove the battery and replace this with another SIM but, as the phone was plugged in it wouldn't turn off so didn't need to reboot. If the phone isn't plugged in removing the battery will turn the phone off and the other SIM won't work as it can't be used to boot the phone. I think there is a post around here aboput SIM-unlocking the phone permenately but, as I'm on Orange, I haven't looked at it. Bazz
Guest paulcaley Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Thanks, I am on Orange and My other Sim card is Orange. I just wanted to take my SIM card out and put it in another phone for 10 mins whil I try something. As I am at work I dont not have a power source for my phone, I think I will just wait until later to give it a try.
Guest Bazz Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Just turn the phone off and swap the SIMs then.
