Hello all,

Been in possesion of SPV for a week or so and have had a stab at some XML editing. To the point...I have an XML editor called CookTop and have managed to edit a home page to my liking (permanent sh'cuts on my home screen) but when I paste the finished file into IPSM/App Data/Home and put it in the windows file aswel, the XML file doesn't appear in the Settings/Home/Layout box so I can't select my work?

Any ideas/help would be great

have you verified the xml, i find opening it in Internet Explorer will point out any problems with syntax.

If you have and it looks ok... feel free to PM me a copy, and i'll run through it..

First of all use Notepad - there's no real need for a funky XML editor IMHO.

Next did you change the name in the title tag? Also there may be a problem with the XML. Post it here and I'll have a look.

I take it by "the windows file aswel" you mean the graphics :?

You have named the file correctly, yes? i.e. myscreen.home.xml

Othere than that, it will not show up if there is an error in the XML.

Hi again,

Thanks for the advice. I will check the tags when I get home but renaming the file is something I have done correctly...I haven't much experiance in XML at all and I was determined to do it myself but my creativeness ran out with coffee last night!

Will forward the file tonight for you lot to lok over and see where I have gone wrong

Cheers

Will's suggestion is a good one. Internet Explorer's good a decent XML viewer built in so it should spot the obvious mistakes.

Is there any program that spots the more hidden mistakes?

Thanks,

Wyatt
