Orange answers more SPV questions!

At least Orange are aware of all the bugs. There is a hell of a lot to fix and most of there answers are "its being looked at".

At the rate we are going, the update is going to be huge!

What I would really like to know is exactley when this update is scheduled for and what problems will be fixed!

they probably hope so with the data charges they want to bring in after unlimited access has run out

Don't forget you can download the update via your PC internet connection using the cradle pass thru...

I spoke to Orange yesterday as part of a survey on how I have found my SPV and I asked about the update. The response I got was that it would most likely be available at the beginning of January and depending upon the size depends on how they will distribute it.

According to the rep I spoke to it is possible that if the update is large they may do a replacement handset rather than use Orange update to distribute the update. I guess we will just have to wait and see

I'm just looking forward to the 3G version which is most likely due at the end of next year. Just in time for my contract expiry :D

Anyway, I am just passing on the information from the rep I spoke to so you can take it any way you like.

I know it's just what you've been told but the replacement handset thing sounds like a "throw away" coment to me.

It would cost them a fortune.

They would have to give everyone a brand new handset; they can't make you have a reconditioned model.

And, what are they going to do with all the returned ones?

I would imagine if the update is large they would offer an in-store facility to those who would want it.

By the way I'm not aruging with you just reasoning "out loud".

Fair enough :D Like I said just passing on the information I was given. I guess if people are returning them to get a replacement there is nothing to stop them reselling them? I know they are then technically second hand but mine is still in mint condition and I think you would find it hard to tell it had been used.

Even so I guess there would be nothing stopping them issuing a CD with the update on it seeing as they should be able to get it to install via the USB "hub". I agree it is unlikely they would issue a new handset but if they are going for a PR thing I guess in the long run it could make them a fortune?

Appreciate the response anyway but thought I would let people know :(

Trust me, a year ago i spent £350 on a 9210, they lost my number for a week in the upgrade process, i was spending a lot of money every month on talk 400 and 4 weeks after the upgrade when my screen went buggy i was sent a 'reconditioned' 2nd hand model with a much earlier serial number and a mis-aligned screen. I articulately argued my case right to the top of cs and got absolutely nowhere!!! The moral of this story is if you are basicly happy with your phone then keep it..you may just be swapping one set of faults for another. I imagine it will be the same story for the spv..once a few phones are returned then they will build up a stock of 2nd user models and use these for replacements..
