Guest PeterDelve Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 I dont know about everyone else but I can have GPRS connected all day. The 2 Hours stated in the HTC doucmentation is for continous data transmisson, if you are simply connected to GRPS then the power that an open GRPS connection uses is very small indeed. I Often have mine connected all day (while also being singed into msn messenger).
Guest XPClone Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 You can be connected to GPRS all day and not incur any cost as long as you don't send or receive data. The power used to keep you connected is minimal.
Guest TZed9 Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 Muppets Of course you will be charged for being on all day. To keep the connection live, the SPV will ping the IP address it is communicating with every few seconds to verify the connection is still live. Allthough the amount of packets being sent'recieved will be miniscule, it will add up over time. And of course, what to packets make ? Bytes ! Try it. Hook up the PC to GPRS and keep the connection live for an hour. Windows will report to you the total bytes. It will not be a lot for an hour, but all day every day will be measureable.
