Guest dan Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 I'm trying to beam contacts from my (rather old Phillips NINO) Windows CE device to the SPV. It doesn't seem to find it. Any ideas?
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 SPV > Nokia doesn't seem to work properly either. Also, a business card sent from an 8310 to an SPV never seems to arrive. Does this work for anyone else? P
Guest dan Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 Surely it should work from Microsoft Win CE to Smartphone.
Guest edupin Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 (From french SPV owner) IR beaming from my SPV to my Ipaq PPC works fine. IR beaming from my Ipaq to my SPV does NOT work, nothing happens. Websurfing using my SPV as an infrared modem does NOT work either. (unable to open connection / communication port not recognized) I've asked for an express exchange last tuesday, the new SPV arrived this morning friday at my office: I checked it: IR does not work!!!! Serious bug.
Guest johntheo Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 I have an xda and the SPV and IR works fine both ways. Just remember to turn on in whichever machine is receiving or it will NOT work!
Guest j_sincla Posted December 14, 2002 Report Posted December 14, 2002 Actually some older CE/Pocket PC devices will need an application called peacemaker from www.conduits.com
Guest edupin Posted December 15, 2002 Report Posted December 15, 2002 Thanks for your advice j_sincla, I installed Peacemaker on my Ipaq and now it works fine and fast! (at least I can beam data from my Ipaq to my SPV!). Surprisingly I did not need this app to beam data beetween my Siemens ME and my iPaq. One last thing does not work: websurfing with my iPaq using the SPV as an infrared modem, always the same error: unable to open connection / communication port not recognized... Did I miss something?
Guest madu Posted December 15, 2002 Report Posted December 15, 2002 You might have tried it already, but you might need to use a special app on SPV to activate SPV for receive...
Guest edupin Posted December 16, 2002 Report Posted December 16, 2002 What do you mean madukrainian by "special app"? When I want to receive by infrared, I do Programs/more/more/Accessories/Infrared receive/... and I put my SPV in front of the other IR device. Now it works both ways Is there something else? . But when I want to surf on the web with my iPaq using my SPV as an IR modem, I do Programs/more/more/Accessories/Modem connection/IrCOMM/Activate/... but this does not work and I get the same error "unable to open connection / communication port not recognized..." (all of these messages are translated approximately from french)
Guest madu Posted December 16, 2002 Report Posted December 16, 2002 OK. This leads me to believe that it is a 'Standard Modem Driver' malfunctioning, must be some special modem driver installed (which does not seem to have been released yet). Or there is a problem with emulating a virtual port (ie COM4) on your PC.. Anyone else got it working as a modem??
Guest amo Posted December 16, 2002 Report Posted December 16, 2002 Beaming from nokia to spv does work, ive tried beaming a picture from a 7650 to an spv and it worked fine
Guest Danlance Posted December 16, 2002 Report Posted December 16, 2002 I could beam fine from SPV to nokia 6210 - although (annoyingly) it saved my contact as Lastname, Firstname - not quite what I wanted... I couldn't get the 6210 to beam to SPV - i'd activate IR Recieve on the SPV, then send contact by IR on 6210 - but although it said contact sent on Nokia, the SPV just said searching, and the contact did not appear to have been saved :D Any ideas?
Guest Saracen Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 I get the same thing. My 8310 says contact sent, but the SPV still waits.
Guest Ult Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Hmmm.... Beaming fra one SPV to another is causing me (an fellow colleagues) some serious troubles?! ...And 'yes!' one phone is put in 'wait for IR'-mode, while the other is beaming all sorts of info (tried this far: Contacts, appointments). Anybody got any clues as to what we might be doing wrong? Thanks in advance! :D Ult
Guest J1A1H Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 from my old nokia 8850 to my spv does not work but works if i send somethin to nokia. WHY? and if someone does get it to work what type of things could u transfer between two spv's could u transfer music and videos?
Guest yzbob Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 it seems to me that its pot luck whether u get an spv that has working IR or not
Guest mike-oh Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 This might console some of you but i've tried beaming and receiveing between 2 SPVs and i can't get it to work either. The sending device detects the other phone and claims to have sent it (occasionally) meanwhile the other phone is sat there waiting still! *edit* I've got it workin between an spv and a t300 though. Wot's going wrong? Cheers, Mike
Guest playmo Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 i have beamed from an spv to 2 differents palm and it works well for contacts and tasks but from palm to SPV not possible bye
