NOTE: THIS IS MY FIRST IMPRESSON OF THE PHONE PLEASE NOTE I MAY GROW TO HATE IT! I DONT BELIEVE I HAVE HAD NEARLY ENOUGH TIME WITH IT TO MAKE A PROPER ANALYSIS!

Ok now first impressions of the SPV are very good, I have to admit it’s a very nice phone. My major gripe with it is basically speed, its typical windows when resources are low almost grinding to a halt at some points although waiting a few seconds generally isn’t too bad.

I have to admit im only annoyed about speed because to be honest it’s got a 132 MHz processor (apparently) and you’d expect that to run this software faster.

It’s very nice that its windows, settings are so forth are just so easy to find. Many people don’t like windows, well you aint gonna like the SPV then!

I think the resolution is great and looking at my old phone (sl45) its like playing a NES when you’ve been given a GameCube.

Photo messaging is very flaky the camera software is EXTREMELY slow, which i can’t understand because IA album generates pictures in seconds someone was asleep when they came up with this one, but ive taken some pictures and it works, however slowly.

The games look *fantastic* and being able to play episodes of family guy/simpsons and south park is great, although windows media player wasn’t thought out very well, i cant wait for something better (did the orange media player work better?) its a real arse not being able to fast forward and rewind.

The internet works nicely although i did have to get it switched on (more arse) im guessing this is oranges fault. Haven’t set up email yet although i can understand being able to delete more than one message would definitely be a bonus.

Overall the phone seems very good, im glad its solid, doesn’t feel like it would die if i dropped it people on the board say its good, someone even dropped it in a toilet!! That means unless the software dies i rekon itll last me a year.

I have serious problems with certification although ive made my feelings clear about that before it sounds like orange are trying todo something if this will be enough i dont know but im glad they see it as an issue.

I see myself definitely using IA Album and All-Explorer more than the trial so ill definitely be buying those.

I notice that alot of people have a problem with applications not closing down, you notice this when you press the back button but if you run something else and then press the home button, such as going to the inbox, its impossible to get the original application back as it just goes to ure inbox this appears to close it, i could be wrong.

Anyway, i suppose i understand why alot of people dont like it but its leagues apart from anything else ive seen, maybe not the p800 but the release of that is constantly being pushed back (i think its February now). The 7650 is just too huge for me, and doesn’t have an mmc card, 4mb is alot worse than the 8mb orange give although exactly one year ago my sl45 came with 32mb so both is pretty poor at least with SPV you can expand.

One other thing i definately like is being able to use youre computers internet connections this will make updating very easy!

Feel free to flame me, i imagine ill get a few i hate the SPV its crap under this thread but i dont personally feel thats very constructive, so far it hasnt given me much grief my sl45 is definitely ready for mobley heaven i can tell you that

100% AGREED!! GREAT PHONE!

If you look at what it HAS and not at what it HASN'T!! Coz really we do expect a lot from such a phone and it does provide a lot, but then there is some f**kup that just makes you feel so pissed off about the whole thing. Though, I personally love being able to SYNCHRONIZE contacts and calendar - have been waiting for a phone with these features for a while now.

So, as one of the members here says: Now it can only get better!!

And for that it would be nice to have a few updates and certificaTION OFF (at least for unpriveleged soft)

:D most certainly agree.

Great phone, no Fantastic phone, had me worried when I saw a lot of negative posts early on but with the odd fix here and there, a few applications available that show what the phone is really capable of, these seem to have abated.

Mines nearly working exactly as I had expected, and seeing as I know people get so many probs with other phones that have half the features then yes, this is a great phone.

They need to sort out the battery and the certification and it will be the best mobile device on the market.

Cheers, Shire

Definately starting to like this the more i discover, ive now set up a htm file with all my playlists in it which automatically launch into windows media player, i can now skip through my movies/music using the playlists (as desribed in tips and tricks) and ive downloaded some really quite good games! My internet now works perfectly although im not sure about mms. All in all its growing on me day by day!

Cheers
