How do I soft reset my Red e Sc1000 smartphone

Hi, I have the red e smartphone which i Just flashed to 1055 ROM.

The phone seems to lock up ALOT (three times a day) and each time I have to take the battery out to re-boot it.

Is there a way of reseting it with a comination of key presses?

Do you mean soft or hard reset it?

A soft reset is just a powercycle. A hard reset will return it to "factory" settings. To do this press and hold * and 3, then power on, don't let go until you see the "IPSM flash erasing" message and a yellow progress bar. It will also need to be plugged into the mains.

It will then display a blue bar for a few minutes while it writes the new IPSM and then boot normally.

How did you upgrade to 1055? I'm still on 1053 and can't get the latest version to install :)

Thanks for that - so switching off is a "soft" reset. Ok - not the same as pocketpc.

Now - how did i flash to 55!! Very good question it took 5 attempts. Each of the first four times it died on one of the bin files with a red error bar. The last time I just held it really tight in my hand and didnt take my eyes off it and it went all the way through! I am sorry but I can't give you a reason as to why it worked after 4 unsuccessful attempts.

What a peice of crap this phone is though - really.

~ Battery life = Lucky to get a day

~ Crashes = weel only 4 per day

~ Hardware = after only owning it for 3 days the chrome has worn off both the soft buttons.

Hehe. The battery life is no worse than the SPV's imho. Mine had a spate of randomly crashing with 1049 build (i think), it wouldn't recover from the low refresh/colour standby mode. Few hard resets and update to 1053 seems to fix it though. I also have suffered the fading of the chrome :)

Guess i'll keep playing later tonight (mine kept hanging on installing gsm.bin).

How good compare to SPV/Tanager? bigger or smaller

Compare to Mio?

How can i get that? what is the price and where is the site selling it.

Its a pre-production development phone. Slightly longer than an SPV (not counting the aerial) and a lot thinner. Its the same spec as the HTC handsets, so the Mio is no comparison really.

You can only get them dircet from MS as part of the SmartPhone development kit, priced at a cool $500.
