Guest benzo Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 I have finally got myself NTL cable installed (600kbps!) at home. What wireless devices can I buy to transmit bandwidth to my laptop from the NTL cable box? Thanks! Benzo
Guest MECX Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 if you have more than one computer that needs connecting to the internet you will need a router--like this one linksys router (there are many more just look on DABS or sumthin) if you just want to connect your laptop you will just need a wireless hub--probs best getting the router as it will not cost much more. linksys make good kit--netgear are also good but if your on a budget there are lots of non branded stuff out there. (oh and keep an eye on your internet connection--NTL used to screw us regular in regards to bandwidth---if you phone up and complain everytime your internet is slow you may get an upgrade for free (we did)) go to here to check your bandwidth :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 I use the Belkin Wireless router and it works fine :) The only thing I did do with NTL was to uninstall thier BB monitoring software as I found it was very gready with system resourses.
