Guest spider Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 Hi There....need some help from the experts...YOU.. What is a *.hif file..??? a couple of days ago I checked my "home" directory (found in IPSM/application data..) and I found that I had 10 files called home0.hif, home1.hif, home2.hif...etc etc.. each file had the size of 12K. I triede to move them, in order to see if the SPV would "go crazy" after a restart, but nothing happen..other than it had made a new *.hif file. I removed it and retstarted the phone and now there were no *.hif file. If I try to rename the hif file to a txt file and open it, I can see nothing but strange symbols and letters and a coulpe of times a can read the name "nina" (and I don't have any contacts with the name of Nina).. The file does not look like and xml file and if I open my seetings and go to homescreen I can not see the file, but only the "correct" home screen files.... so ladies and gentlemen...WHAT is a "hif" file ?? thankx in advance for your answer
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 I believe it is a file critical to the control or organisation of homescreens. But i've only ever seen one...maybe you confused the phone and it started creating new ones for each homescreen? (all guesses there btw... :))
Guest coulhaus Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 FYI "Nina" is the default true type font used by the SPV.
Guest spider Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 thankx so far..... however I wonder..because I have never seen any hif files in the mentioned dir before (or anywere else)...so I wonder why they are there now and if they are critical how come the SPV don't "complain" if I have moved the files...
Guest Will Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 When I was researching homescreens, and changing them every 10-15 secs, i got up to 5 hif files in there! It appears they are 'placeholders' possibly used by the homescreen parser, i deleted them happily, and with no problems, you may find they appear if you have a homescreen loaded, and then delete the .hme.xml file that it is obtained from.. a hif file will appear. I subconsciously called them Home Information Files. So don't panic! Will
