Any tips anyone??? Thank you! It sound like you've lost communication to the serving GPRS node. It could be a problem with the BTS site you are on.
Guest malefrag Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 ok...........which means i have to do what to fix it???
Guest martin Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 Reset your local the transceiver site  Try turning you phone off and on (or radio off/on) to see if it recovers. If not, report it to Orange customer services ?
Guest malefrag Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 i am in greece at the moment. phoning customer sevrvices is not an option for me now.!! any other ideas anyone????
Guest Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 Are you roaming on a Greek network? If so are you sure that the network you are on supports GPRS for roaming customers? If you are roaming try and swap to another network (Settings>Telephony>More...>Networks>Network Selection - change this to Manual and select another network), and see if that helps.
Guest malefrag Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 i had the greek sim an everything was ok. then g was gone. made a master reset,in order to fix the pro, and the g never came back with either the greec or the orange simcard!!!

Yep, it sounds like a network fault. Either you local BTS site is having problems or your SGSN (Serving Gateway Node) has gone down. I would wait a short while and see if GPRS re-appears by itself. This issue is with greek network provider - so contact their customer services if it does not recover.
Guest malefrag Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 i have a greek sim card!!!! the thing is that the greec sim was working with the spv and i could use gprs. all of the sudden, it stopped. the G was gone from the homescreen. After that, i made a master reset on the phone, and the G was still gone from the home screen!!!
Guest martin Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 You should be able to switch to a dialup connection until GPRS restores.

Guest martin Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 What happens if you borrow someone elses (GPRS activated) SIM card and put it in your phone ?
Guest malefrag Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 it happens the same. my boyfriend has the spv, operating with greek sim and in his it is fine. in mine, no G. and all the settings are the same!!!!

A failure to attach to the GPRS network (BIG G) can be caused by various network elements but it is not usually the phone that's at fault, although if what you tell me is correct then it really does sound like the phone is corrupt. :? Just as your boyfreinds SIM does not work in your phone, I take it that your SIM works in his ? It might be that the only solution is to hope that the problem is due to software glitch and that it can be resolved with a hard reset. Have you hard reset the phone before ?
Guest malefrag Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 i did hard reset the phone hoping that it will fix the problem. my boyfriends phone was wirking, with the Greek sim, and not in my phone.... i dont know what else to do!!
Guest martin Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 It is possible that you have a faulty phone. Where did you buy it and how when did the GPRS fail ? As a last resort you could try and download new software into the phone. What are your ROM update versions (programs - settings- about)
Guest malefrag Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 i bought the phone in february, from orange. it is updated v 0.98 and application free. and just today i hard reset it
Guest martin Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 i bought the phone in february, from orange. Personally I would install the update again (live dangerously) but you should still be insured with Orange therefore try and get a replacement. When are next back in the UK ?
Guest malefrag Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 i will try that!!! back in the uk at the end of September!!!
