Guest mcbutler Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 Hi All, Tried to install smart explorer and the phone tells me installation failed because I do not have the required permissions. Does this mean my phone is locked? I have tried the Orange unlock procedure and waited 3 days for it to do this (it says 5 minutes on the web site!). Does it actually work? Regards Mark
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 Yes it does work .. it's worked for thousands. You will receive a message on your phone, when it's working. However the OTA site has been rather dodgy this last week, so try and go back and "lock" your phone .. and then unlock it again.
Guest Crispy Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 When waiting for the unlock the phone needs to be capable of going online. Either by GRPS or via a pass-through connection (Via the PC). It needs to connect to this adress: http://developer.orangews.com/orgspv/unlock.asp I dunno if you can connect to it manually, but anyway, as MoRFLeZ says, lock the phone. Then set the phone up to use a pass-through connection and place it in the cardle. Then attempt another unlock :)
Guest mcbutler Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 Thankyou very much for your help, you can go to the site/link directly using IE on the phone and it unlocked straight away. However I still get the same message when trying to install explorer to the phone, i.e. I do not have the correct permissions. Seems I have a dog phone, nothing seems to work on it correctly, it even lost its display in the warm weather yesterday, had to put it in the fridge to get it back!!!!!!! Thanks again Mark
