Guest kingdom master Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 if the mitac has a 200mhz processor wouldnt the snes emulator run alot closer to original speed as would the gameboy and nes? emuls? and would the xscale effect the emuls use if i brought a mitac, and if anyone knows where can i get a mitac and for how much in uk pounds thanks
Guest Crispy Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Yes, a 200mhz CPU would proberly be able to handle SNES and NES at something very close to orignal speed! ... I dunno about GBC thou ... The funny thing is though, that when I had my 133mhz PC with 16MB ram and 800MB HD it coudl handle both NES and SNES games at full speed! ... so the reason to the SPV not being able to run them 100% got to have something to do with poorly optimized code, and of course the OS.
Guest spacemonkey Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 It should speed them up, we won't know until it is tested exactly how much difference it makes. It should speed all of them up the a similar proportion NES and GBC may even reach "full speed" emulation. As to your old 133Mhz PC running these things at full speed, there is a lot factors that affect performance other than straight Mhz, your PC will have been running a x86 processor which is complicated instruction set (CISC) where as the ARM processors are reduced instruction set (RISC) what this means is that a x86 will achieve more per instruction than an ARM. But then ARMs aim is to be light weight and low power. Also, the bus memory etc in your PC is all optimized for speed and power usage is irrelevant to a desktop pc, where as the entire architecture of a smartphone is optimised to save power. There are of course inneficiencies of the code and it's all written in C rather than assembler, but still what do you expect for free code :)
Guest unclelimey Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 the NES emulator runs pretty close to full speed on my spv....
