Guest hatton33 Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Seems like a good deal which i have ordered- Orange SPV £29.99 200 Mins to Any network Any time 500 text messages per month Free Orange Open Access for 12 months I get to keep my number for no extra fee £30 a month. Just 2 questions though- Open access - is this wap OR GPRS, and as far as i can make out you can go onto any site not just orange services. If anyone knows any more information please post, cause its the one thing about the network im unsure about. Also, how do i 'unsign' my spv so it can use software thats not signed. Cheers for your help people. Much appriciated. Rob
Guest Gorskar Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 To unsign your phone see the article on OTA unlocking, or just skip directly to the orange developers website at http://developers.orange.com/workingwith/2...3/04/Unlocking/ Sorry I have no Idea what Open Access is, but I severly doubt its full internet access. The rest of your deal seems good to me.
Guest hatton33 Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Yeah thats what i thought. They dont seem to make it clear about Open Access. Heres a few quotes on the site about it. QUOTE 1 Open Access *Get news, sport and entertainment with Open Access. *get live scores and up-to-the minute coverage on a range of sports *don't miss out on gossip with the latest news and pictures on your favourite pop stars, bands and TV programmes *buy books, CDs, videos and cinema tickets all from your Orange phone *access thousands of sites from online newspapers to official football club sites QUOTE 2 up to 12 months free wap services with Open AccessAnd finally QUOTE 3 Offers and promotions Free 'Open access' promotion - pay monthly 'Orange' means Orange Personal Communications Services Limited, St James Court, Great Park Road, Almondsbury Park, Bradley Stoke, Bristol BS32 4QJ. 'You' means any personal pay monthly customer who subscribes to Open Access between the promotional dates of 15 May 2003 and 31 December 2003 inclusive ('The Promotion'). The Promotion is available to personal pay monthly customers who have not previously registered to either Open Access or Orange Access Pack. The Promotion will provide free subscription to Open Access for a period of three months from the date of connection to the Open Access. Orange will continue to supply Open Access following The Promotion at a charge of £4 per month, you are free to request termination of this product at anytime by giving five days notice prior to your monthly billing date. The Promotion is subject, at all times, to a fair usage policy as set out below. Orange reserves the right to request that subscribers exceeding the limits set out below reduce their usage. In the event that usage continues to exceed these limits, Orange may at its discretion remove The Promotion from your account and refuse to allow reconnection to this service. Currently high usage of The Promotion using GPRS is defined as 10MB. Currently high usage of The Promotion using CSD is defined as 200 minutes. Orange reserves the right to end a wap call after a 30-minute period of inactivity. The Promotion is also subject to the Open Access terms and conditions (formally known as Orange Access Pack) available at www.orange.co.uk or on request. Can you decide what exactly it is?? I cant!!
Guest Jasonkruys Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Open access is just for wap. I have it for three months and got my first bill in having only looked at internet pages. They were deducted from my 2mb / month gprs bundle.
Guest hatton33 Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 cheers mate. Its a bit stange they say in the terms and conditions of the free open access that - Orange reserves the right to request that subscribers exceeding the limits set out below reduce their usage. In the event that usage continues to exceed these limits, Orange may at its discretion remove The Promotion from your account and refuse to allow reconnection to this service. Currently high usage of The Promotion using GPRS is defined as 10MB. ummm think i might try emailing them, only thing is i know they take ages to reply!!!
Guest hatton33 Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 Ok, just to confirm. I got a call from orange today about this, its totally free wap or GPRS for 12 months to all services. Pretty damn good deal considering you guys were annoyed at the free gprs trial ending. I get 10mb free for 12 months!! Not bad eh!!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 Careful they could be meaning WAP "Over" GPRS when the latest offer came out it took me 5+ calls to get the correct information out of Orange that the offer was for Wap over GPRS and not for normal GPRS ie internet browsing etc
Guest jhew Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 Yeah, open access is WAP via GPRS. I.e. it uses a GPRS connection to access wap sites, and doesnt (to my knowledge) give u full net access.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 Edit: Apparently it doesn't, in fact :)
Guest hatton33 Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 agh right, but im guessing its still faster than normal right? i mean normal wap is pretty slow but presumably wap over gprs is quicker. The strange thing is you can subscribe to 'open access' but it failes to give any decent information about it!! When my SVP finally arrives (mon or tues) then ill phone O and ask. Just to mention to everyone ordering over the net to Orange, dont expect on time delivery as apparently they have been bombarded with orders for the 6100. I ordered mine on 4th july, and it still hasnt come yet!!!! BUMMER!!!
Guest squall Posted July 13, 2003 Report Posted July 13, 2003 i read paul saying he got a keyboard with his e100, but didnt know if he bought it seperate. when i asked cutostomer support he said the e100 had a bonus pack, but couldnt tell me what was in it, and suggeted i phoned my local store. i did and they didnt know either and they suggested i phoned the edinbrugh store, surprise surprise they didnt have the phone either.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 13, 2003 Report Posted July 13, 2003 Paul's was a press-pac, not the actual release version in Orange shops today...
Guest vijay555 Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 hatton33: where'd you get your deal from? I just got Your Plan 180 + spve100 + 250 msgs per month + 1000 free =£25 pm. Yours sounds better tho.. V
Guest hatton33 Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 I got my deal from the orange website.
Guest mattscholey Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 Phoned up Orange about Open Access when I had the same question. Open Access is for WAP wheather over GPRS or dial-up. Matt
Guest mike-oh Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 Does anyone know if i can change to this price plan? I am currently on the OVP O2 100 plan (100mins any network any time and 100 texts) which i signed up for mid December and costs £25 per month which usually ends up as £30 due to extra texts. I would guess i would be bound to another 12month contract if i did though, but this one seems pretty good! Thanks *edit* I've just had a look at my account on the orange website under the "change service plan" all the options to change to are "Talk Time 100, 200....etc" I guess this is different to "Your Plan 200". Any suggestions 'cos i think this could save me some money!
Guest hatton33 Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 Only answer i can think of is phone orange and ask them. Only other way i can think of gettin around it is by upgrading your phone. umm all depends on your deal though. Im sure they could do something for you if thats what you want.
Guest mrjuglas Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 surely Orange can't tell if you're accessing wap over GPRS as opposed to internet content... just as the email promotion they ran allowed you to use your 30MB for whatever you liked...??
Guest morpheus Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Ok, just to confirm for all you people... OPEN ACCESS is for WAP ONLY using CSD or GPRS to connect. It is NOT available for full net access. If you ask for it to be put on your account you WILL be charged if you access the net.
Guest Tosh Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Can anyone point me to where on the Orange site I can find details on the Your 200 talklplan please.
