Guest fozzie Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Where'd it go? I was going to ask how the update was going e.g. delivery receipts etc.

Guest fozzie Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Yowser :) Where did that come from?? Like it lots ;)
Guest JoelRae Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Yeah, very swish ... looks like midnight's been busy finishing off his avatar
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Er hehe...oops! Well you are the lucky few :)
Guest JoelRae Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 sorry boss, I didn't see a thing, honest  feel free to edit above post as necessary!!
Guest ajb3000 Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 your best bet is to try and contact asif, i don't fancy your chances of actually getting a reply tho.
Guest fozzie Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 Given the various comments above, I get the distinct impression that all is not well on the Planus front. Would I be right? Should I hold off buying any more credits?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 I wouldn't hold your breath over the future of Planus :)
Guest fozzie Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 I was kinda getting that impression. Any particular reason why? Not enough profit margin, not core business, Orange about to release comparable SMS tariffs?? Is the service just going to be cut off or just fade away once peoples credits have been used up? I guess small top-ups at a time are advisable then! Are there any alternative similar services? So many questions but since my partner and I use Planus quite a bit, it would be nice to know where we stand. Any chance of some form of 'official' statement from Planus?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 You'd have to try and contcat Asif ("asif @ planus" member name), but again, this isn't particulary easy. Theres nothing wrong with the business as such, just the MD...
Guest ajb3000 Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 I would hold off buying credits at all right now, asif only has about 3 days worth of credits left with the upstream provider so it isn't really worth the risk. as for an alternative service, watch this space. :) ;)
Guest FragMeister Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 I have started using www.vgsmail.com for sending texts. It costs 3.3p a time, and you get a 50p credit (worth 15texts) when you sign up. There is no App for sending them, but the web interface is easily usable on the SPV. The only problem is with the character count not working with the SPV, as Planus had to start with. I have emailed the guy there, suggesting that they add a button to recount the message length. As you would expect, you can set up aliases for commonly used numbers. What I like is that it can be setup for sending you a receive notification as an SMS (but this costs you 1 credit), or as an email (free). You can also check the status of a message through the webpage. there is also an email interface, so you can send emails and either put your user/password as the subject line, or you can set it up to use the sending address (your email) to auto authenticate.
Guest fozzie Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 as for an alternative service, watch this space. :) ;) Ok, I'm watching like a hawk
Guest fozzie Posted July 13, 2003 Report Posted July 13, 2003 Is this the end of Planus? Now getting 'Network error prevents sending - codeERR: 301" I hope not. Will be contacting Asif for refund of credits if it is.
Guest ajb3000 Posted July 13, 2003 Report Posted July 13, 2003 He has now run out of credits with the upstream provider.
Guest FrankyG Posted July 13, 2003 Report Posted July 13, 2003 Damn :!: and I had been saving my credits for when I went to Australia :!: i take it that Planus, as we know it, is history :?: FrankyG
