Question: Can SPV send DTFM tones?

Can the SPV send DTFM tones? Usefull for using calling cards, phone banking etc. I want to be able to use it as the Nokia phones can i.e. select a number from a phone book and send a string of numbers. I don't have a SPV (yet) but this is something I would miss.

thanks

All modern GSM handsets have DTMF . These are basically tones used for navigating Interactive Voice Response systems, i.e if you wish to have me ******, press the 1 key. :D Without them you couldn't navigate the Answerphone for example.

I had to power cycle my SPV the other day because DTMF would not work on the answerphone service.

I used telephone banking quite a lot, an DTMF tones work fine.

I've never actually seen a phone that didn't support DTMF (it's a required feature).

I'm sure what dma's actally saying is can it at the touch of a button (or few) send the dtmf tones of a number in your phonebook?

In Nokia phones, while in a call you can select "Send DTMF" in the menu and send the tones for a number in the phonebook. THis means you don't have to remember the number if using a calling card service.

Yes, that is what I mean. I have a telco 0800 account for cheaper calls, and it works fine on orange, but i really dont want to memorise my phone book!
