Headset profile usual problem...

My phone's been on headset profile for a month - i've got by with just using the headset, but now both my earphones are broken (most likely faulty wires).

I would send the phone to be replaced, but i have so much stuff 2 backup and i need my phone with me everyday. I was at least going to wait for the next update.

Anyway, i was thinking there must be an interface whereby when the headset switch is pressed, the phone is told to go to the headset profile and therefore there must be a way to disable or interfere with this process. Has no1 tried to look for this? Or has no-one contacted microsoft or HTC? I would myself but i dont know how. Im sure a program like this would sort so many problems out.

Blow into the headset socket ...

That's how I got mine back to normal when it broke, although it was then stuck on normal mode.

Maybe a stupid remark but did you try to select an other profile?

and maybe you can delete the profiles.exe from the map smartphonewindows in ya phone. Make sure you make a copy of the profiles.exe the only problem I found is that you can not copy from the rom.

So If you were able to copy this to your harddisk let me know ok?

I have to copy some files also from the rom an d I can't suceed in that.

Yes :) as the fault is hardware related

AFAIK Orange are aware of this problem, and should replace handsets that have this fault (if you can go through the pain of the backup / restore dance!)

I know everything there is currently that is to do with this problem, the fixes and how orange will replace etc.

My question is: is it possible that a software interface could be created to stop the phone going into headset profile when the switch is pressed? Even if it is only microsoft or whoever who knows how to. And wudnt it b possible to email these ppl and ask them to make this program. Coz god this bug pisses me off!

If the headphone profile works solely on mechanical switching of circuits (which it appears to do) then

it's not possible :)

The headset mode is definatly triggered by a physical switch (at least on the MPX 200)- but there must be part pf the OS that reads the input from switch, and diverts sound signals from the onboard speaker/mic to the headset socket

The dust flap for my mpx 200 has broken off, so i put the rubber dust plug from my timeport into it, only to find it went into headset mode.

Even apart from the dust cover, I can't stand hands-free headsets - I like the holding the phone to my head and taking.

This gives me the problem that everytime i get a call whilst listening to MP3s I have to pull the headset out before i answer.

I want to set my phone to never use headset mode, even when a headset is pugged in, so I'd be very happy if somebody could find (or even write!) a software fix that would ignore the headset switch.

Cheers,

Iain
