Guest niacin65 Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 When I turn on my Smart Amazing Phone just before it finds the service, it shows a new message is waiting in the inbox (with icon). Upon opening the inbox, there is nothing there, and the icon disappears. Anyone else seen this?
Guest Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 Yep, happens on mine. Got into the habit of going to the Inbox straight away if I reboot now.
Guest monwee Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 try the following procedure which was posted by EMGenius under Articles: firstly you need some sort of reg editor (I used dbviewsp) available on Monolithix's site. 1) use the DBViewSP editor to go to IPSMcemail.vol 2) under that go to 'pmailNamedProps' and select it to edit the values 3) scroll down to the very last 2 values, which should be called 'UnreadCou...' 4) delete them 5) restart 6) smile coz u just got rid of that damn annoying message thing!! this tweak was originally intended to rid the phone of phantom messages but a lot of people said this works for false bootup messages as well...
Guest niacin65 Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 I just found the solution posted by Monolithix....it works (sorry I didn't see the solution before posting). 2 Simple solutions: 1: Hard Reset (solved my message plug-in doing this, not the reason i Hard Reset though) 2: Rename "cemail.vol" in IPSM. This will nuke any messages you currently have, but will stop it reporting the Phantom SMS. I did #2 then rebooted, no false message alert, then deleted (the old cemail.vol) file that I had previously renamed cemail.old.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 The Phantom SMS fix (as posted above, also see the link) will reset the counter without nuking all your current stored SMS. The fix i posted (a long while back) was before the database-edit method was discovered, and ~will~ remove all stored messages.
Guest niacin65 Posted July 13, 2003 Report Posted July 13, 2003 The only weird thing after renaming, rebooting, then deleteing the cemail.vol I noticed, is now ALL my outgoing SMS, and deleted SMS messages go into the SENT, and Deleted Items folders, no matter if I have that preference selected or not. I had to download and install SMS Tools to handle it. Did I do it wrong? This is a bit annoying...
Guest SPVDave Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 Nuking the cemail.vol file worked for me, thanks to the above chap who suggested it. As for the messages being put into sent and deleted folders, I've seen this reported as another bug. So I don't think its related to deleting cemail.vol.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 Sent emails ans SMS are stored in the MAPI folder.
