Smart Branded Phone Running Orange

I've unlocked my phone by installing Orange's 1.3.5.6

Now, if I try and upgrade back to Smart's 1.3.7, it won't identify the phone. Even if I try and re-install Orange, it doesn't recognise it.

Am I stuck with this ROM?

Thanks!

Mike

I used Orange update 1.3.5 to unlock my Smart Amazing phone (on top of Smart's 1.5 update), then installed Smart's 1.3.7 and it's working fine. I found the Orange OS to be a bit sluggish on the Smart branded phone, but to be honest, I kinda liked all the Orange features better once I reconfigured the gprs settings. Did you do a hard reset after installing the Orange OS?

I'm getting and ID error when trying to reinstall the Smart software. I think it thinks it's an Orange or something is missing saying it's a Smart...

Any help?

Thanks!

Mike

Check for the file "DeviceData.txt". Edit "ORG_UK" to "ORG_PL" (or the Philllipine code) and rerun the update.

I'm not finding this file. Maybe this is what I'm missing? Can someone send me this file?

Thanks!

Power off your phone first, then try installing on the Canary RGB screen. You can go there by holding down Record then pressing power on. If ever your phone gets lock again, you can always use an spv unlock application to do the unlocking for you since you're only upgrading to 1.3.7 (higher version of SMART ROM can't be unlocked without downgrading the bootloader).

Well, I finally got it!

I was able to get the Smart ROM reinstalled. I had to install the ROM install software on a different computer. I think that's what fixed it for me.

Then I did a hard reset, and was able to successfully install the ROM.

Thanks to everyone for your help!

Mike
