Guest Machineman Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 If you do a hard reset it totaly turns back the way you bought it. Everything that you installed on your PHONE will be gone after hard reset. Everything on your SD card will stay the way it is. Just keep in mind that the shortcuts to your phone menu will be gone also you have to make them again. So if you do a hard reset back up the e-mail, contacts etc. because that will be lost. And if you decertified your phone you have to do it again. CU m8 :)

Not quite - any settings stored by programs in the registry will also be nuked, and these programs wont be in the "remove programs" list any more. The programs will still be on the card (a hard reset doesn't delete the cards contents) but they won't be properly installed anymore. This shouldn't be a problem, as all programs should re-write their settings to the registry the next time that they are run; but it could (potentially) confuse some aps. Also you won't be able to remove these programs in the future automatically and will have to do it by hand, which could leave some orphaned reg settings. Again probably not a problem but could cause some issues later. Personally when I have to hard reset I take the opportunity to do a spring clean; I nuke it all and start from scratch. That way if I have any problems after that date I know it’s not caused by anything left over from the hard reset.
