Guest Pagemakers Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 Does the E100 correctly remember T9 text now?
Guest Vector Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 I don't think much people have them yet  i would like to know tho because i am getting one soon....
Guest Pagemakers Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 I have one in the box next to me. I will let you know when I get home!
Guest Pagemakers Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 Well T9 test gets remembered after a power cycle but I guess the proof is if it is remembered in two weeks time. As for the text counter well that all depends how you compose messages. If like me you go to inbox then new then select your contact there is NO counter. You must go to contacts and send a text message that way. Oh well . . .
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 13, 2003 Report Posted July 13, 2003 Little trick to get around the SMS counter bug: add and remove a number to the CC field as you pass it, it'll then bring up the SMS counter and keep it there while you write your SMS.
Guest Pagemakers Posted July 13, 2003 Report Posted July 13, 2003 For Christ's sake why should we have to do anything to get around an obvious bug in the software. This is version 2 of the software. Has anyone in Orange listed to a soddin word from the thousands and thousands of comments people have made about the bloody phone and its software. PS: Not a dig at you Monolithix
Guest martin Posted July 13, 2003 Report Posted July 13, 2003 For Christ's sake why should we have to do anything to get around an obvious bug in the software. This is version 2 of the software. Has anyone in Orange listed to a soddin word from the thousands and thousands of comments people have made about the bloody phone and its software. I imagine that Orange would only test the software to make sure that it is 100% compatible with their network services and I'm not even sure where Orange would stand in modifying the microsoft code. It is more than likely that the SMS counter bug will be present in the 1.5 software for other networks too. Maybe there could be a stonger link between MoDaCo and Microsoft for software testing and feedback.
Guest Pagemakers Posted July 13, 2003 Report Posted July 13, 2003 That goes back to my statement ages ago that MS should be responsible for the updates not teeny weeny Orange and their one YTS guy in a back office who is in charge of the Smartphone program. But this topic is not about that so let's not go there! Yes, I have got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning, but it would just be nice to see that after 12 long months, somebody somewhere could have been arsed to fix the bugs. What's the point is posting our suggestions and bug fixes here or directly to Orange if no one with authority (Orange or MS) gives a stuff.

Yes, but it's not the update process you have an issue with, its the software content and thats belongs to Microsoft. I do believe you right in that the network providers should be using their communication channels to ensure that bug are fixed in the next software release but obviously they don't. I suppose is doesn't really matter now as the problem is still there, maybe next time.
Guest ClintEastman Posted July 14, 2003 Report Posted July 14, 2003 I don't see it ever getting fixed in SP2002, that's what SP2003 is all about and where MS's time is going.
Guest Pagemakers Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Had my e100 for a couple of days now and you guessed it. . . all my T9 text has just been lost! Orange and MS you should be shot!
Guest florin_m Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 1.50 from Smart and IMate HAS THE SMS BUG FIXED!!!! Now is up to HTC to compile the firmware. But they seems that they forgot to put the new smartphone in the ORANGE UPDATE! How is the flash made: SMARTPHONE OEM OPERATOR LANGUAGE GSM Smartphone ---made by MS OEM, operatorm language and GSM by manufactor (HTC) So the final version is compiled by HTC and distrubuite to network (in out case ORANGE) for tests. Network test it, if ok, then distribuite. So is ORANGE fault for not testing properly!!! HTC fault cause not compile using the Up-to-date smartphone!!! And MS for making such a crapy Smartphone! I'm testing just now the PocketPC 2003 !!! And i can tell you, the tradition of MS is not changed!!! New system MORE BUGS!!! Now my XDA is ERASING links, programs, formating SD card without me asking for. Why we need virused when MS is making a VIRUS OPERATING SYSTEMS? And a old joke: Is Windows a Virus? No, Windows is not a virus. Here's what viruses do: They replicate quickly - okay, Windows does that. Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so - okay, Windows does that. Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk - okay, Windows does that too. Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems. Sigh... Windows does that, too. Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2) and the user will buy new hardware. Yup, that's with Windows, too. Until now it seems Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences:Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature. So Windows is not a virus. It's a bug.
Guest Pagemakers Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 Blame blame blame. If MS alone were responsible for the updates we wouldn't be in this mess. Orange should concentrate on network issues and HTC on building phones. It's simple and uncomplicated.
