whats the sim update for?

I apologise if this has come up before but i'm away doin my dissertation project at the moment. I've had a quick look sound and i haven't seen anything, any how.... i've just recieved a sim update, does anyone know what it does?

it updates the sim registration.....!

I got an update last night (11/07/03), I was on a call when the message arrive - a bit loud! I have powered down my phon since, but noticed no change.

These sim updates apparently update the list of prefered roaming networks.

most of the time it is something invisible, like a couple of years ago a whole batch of updates were sent out to most of oranges customers because there was change in way a call was made when roaming. But i can be something more visible like with orange most things are added via sim updates i.e. GPRS
