Guest roncom Posted July 13, 2003 Report Posted July 13, 2003 I use AvantGo for my Pocket PC and I love it because i sync the webpages i need and read them offline. I was wondering if there's a similar software for the SAP. I cecked AvantGo and so far they don't support smartphone units..... only symbian. Or can i use the win ce version?? I tried saving the webpages i want and saving them to my phone... but it ain't like avantgo where the links are automatically copied. Any suggestions? Thanks. XOX
Guest grifter Posted July 14, 2003 Report Posted July 14, 2003 the CE version will not work on SP2K2. I guess we'll have to wait for Avantgo to come up with a version for SP2K2.
Guest sipper Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 You might want to try the WinHTTrack offline browser mentioned here: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=7063 Its not perfect & a bit fiddly to use (you need to capture site to PC, then copy to SPV (preferably storage card), then create favourite in Pocket IE etc) but it does work for some sites & saves GPRS cost (& perhaps even buying a newspaper :) !). I'm no techie but I've used it to capture the UK Guardian news sites mentioned in above link and also BBC news site at: http://news.bbc.co.uk/low/english/pda/ and I'm sure it will work on some of the other sites mentioned in O directory at: http://spv.orange-today.co.uk/directory/ Hope it works for you. Good luck! Sipper
Guest roncom Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 Any idea when acvantgo will be released for smartphone? Aside from Worlf Off Line --- any other similar software which is freebie? I tried the trial version of WOL --- doesn't work for me. Even encountered problems after uninstalling.... activesync error. WinHTTrack is so complicated. Suggestions?
Guest sweetyls Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 ako rin... i'll be waiting for this. i really like that program. someone gave me the same suggestion as what sipper said. use some offline browser. but i suppose it's such a hassle to transfer files pa. avantgo syncs directly to my palm.
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Any idea when avantgo will be released for smartphone? http://msmobiles.com/catalog/i.php/257.html
