unlocked phone abroad. What's the deal?

Just a quick one. If my phone is unlocked, is it necessary to change it back via the orange site before going abroad? If i don't can i still send/recieve calls and sms. Not bothered about internet/email.

Why would unlocking your phone affect your ability to send/receive sms and make calls??

In short it makes no difference. The de-cert is only specific to the software programs side of things, the GSM functions are seperate.

Used mine unlocked in US no problem, sms message centre number still worked, didnt use e-mail so no idea.
