Guest stu.mcandrew Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 I am due to receive a new SPV in the next day or so to replace a faulty one. I have a number of applications such as CodeWallet, ALLexplorer, a couple of games etc... on my current SPV. I wanted to know how I reinstall the apps and any associated data on my new handset when I get it. I have had numerous telephone conversations with numerous departments within Orange, and was given answers as varied as 'doesnt active sync do that?...' or 'try Orange back up' or 'try copying the program files onto your PC from active sync explore, and then copy back in to the new SPV, that might work, but were not sure, can you let us know what happens...' I really cant believe that no-one has has asked this question of Orange before. Any of you guys and gals have any ideas? Cheers, Stu
Guest madu Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 if you back up ur ipsm onto SD card via Canary Bootloader (or USBterm) then you can restore it onto new phone and have ALL your settings/apps as it was. Ocourse the apps installed on SD card are not in IPSM, so you'll have to back up SD to your hard drive first. Important: If the new phone ROM is newer then yours then you might find that IPSM resets itself on first boot and you end up with a clean 'new' phone (IPSM). To avoid this, make a FULL backup (thus saving WINCE ROM as well as IPSM) Any questions on above? See articles section on how to do this
