I really hope to see som good solution I can't live without my SPV Solgaard/kallep
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 Spilled a pint of Guinness over mine - only effect was to make the keys sticky. After a month or so it cleared up (may have been the heat in Thailand....)
Guest FrankyG Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 If only you had installed the app 'Teach Yourself to Swim'.... but, trying to be helpful...you should have disconnected the battery straight away..did you? The SPV can be opened up, a bit tricky but easy enough. Look for a thread on 'Guide to painting your phone' there's a few links on taking your phone apart. Also something on Coolsmartphone.com. Best to open it up , remove all the part and let dry naturally. While you're there, why not paint it? I did, looks FAB!. hope you can resurrect your phone mate! FrankyG
Guest James Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 did that with a pager about 3 times all i did was to take it apart and leave it in a hot place overnight......
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 Yeh, take it apart and let it dry for a few days. Why not point a hairdryer at it if you're feeling impatient. if it still doesn't work claim it in insurance. does orange care cover toilets? I know a few Nokia's that have survived toilets, but they started to malfunction aftrer a while.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 I heard the hairdryer helps as well...just try not to hold it too closely as not to overheat anything.
Guest madu Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 As soon asa you take it apart the warranty is void and so is insurace (in real world) but ....
Guest kallep Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 hmm I just tried to switch it on without sim and SD-card.. it seems to be working.. but the screen has alot of dark spots and the phone it is wery slow..! I don't know if that has something to do whit the missing sim-card..?? I hope so..!! I have read that if you tuch the screen it will also be dark then what can i do to miss out these dark spots..?? I newer take my phone to bathroom ever agian.!!!! A nice tip for all of you m8z..: NEVER TAKE YOUR SPV WITH TO THE BATHROOM...!!
Guest squall Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 orange will replace it £70 no questions asked, no need for insurance.
Guest kallep Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 ok thanx but its alot fo money I can almost get a used one for about the same whit SD-card..
Guest kallep Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 I can now confirm that my spv is fully functionable...! and the screen has not taken any damage. the dark spots is on the backside of the glass so as soon as I have cleaned it.. it will be as it where before the toilet.. and I really hope it stays that way..!!
Guest chinta Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Hiya guys, I have the same problem, i spilled some water on 2 my SPV!!!!!!! ANd it doesnt funtion normally! If i turn it on the screen gives me al kinds of colours but its not working as it should do! Any Tips PLEASE give me!!!!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 remove the battery and leave it a long time to make sure it dries out completely
Guest chinta Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 alright then, Thanks a lot!!!! I'll try 2 do that. I asked the orange shop yesterday and they said my SPV was dead and i mite had 2 buy another one!! But i just turned my phone on now, left it 4 a dry 2 days now, and it turned on like it normally would but sometimes he goes crazy!!! and some buttons won't work, is this like normal or what??
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Sounds like you could still have some moisture in there. unless it is now on it's last legs :).
Guest kallep Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 I only let mine dry for 24 hour's.. and then it worked and it still does. it actually gets better every day I took my SPV appart about 15 hours after i dropped it.. and dryed the screen very gently whit a dry piece of cutton.. i noticed that if the screen get's wet it becomes dark.. so be very carefull if you consider doing it..!! good luck to you m8
