Guest hjjorg Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 Hi There are i have done a search and have found there is no topic discussing this problem. Who is the author of SPVunlock ? sure after breaking the 10000 members mark one of these must know who he or they are !!! I have a question for you. PM me if you want to stay annonymous. Other wise ppl please lets find out who this is!!! Thanks HJJORG
Guest hjjorg Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 Well maybe that way we can ask him to release the codes of the software for upgrading, maybe that way people can use it on the new canary versions. Or ask him if he want to buil a new version to work against the new Canarys. What do you think ? JJORG
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 1) If the guy wanted to be known to the whole world, he would have told me who he was *wink* 2) I'm sure his attention is already on it - someone with an e100 is yelling his ears off to do his magic
Guest Arisme Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 if you want to see what the program does, you can use an USB spy 8) but it could be a security exploit that was fixed in newer Canaries, and then impossible to adapt ... not that it matters much, since we can always revert to a ;) and if you are really, really, really bored you can have a poll with your favorite bootloader author candidates and let the MoDaCo vote decide :)
Guest madu Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 My FAV is 0.93 and it works a treat!! Just get it off the USBterm website (French one) and load WHX file with WinHEX to your SD card. Then insert it in the phone and load in Canary mode. It will the prompt u to install the Bootloader and will say "pboot download success" - VOILA!
Guest vijay555 Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 madu- if we change the bootloader, do you lose the benefits of 1.50? i'm getting my e100 next week, but would like to be able to back up, i spose... not that i've ever needed to on my SPV :) V
Guest madu Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 I don't see how the bootloader actually affects the performance of OS or the phone in general. It's like BIOS on PC I guess, but there are no new technologies (ie P&P/USB) implemented, so I don't see how any improvements could be made to the 0.93 versions that would make considerable impact on performance/features. I certainly didn't notice any.
Guest n4src Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 How can i check which version of bootloader i have??
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 Power off the phone then press and hold the record button and press the power button this will take you to the canary screen which will display your version :)
Guest MARKUKCOUK Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 its meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Guest ist Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 why don't we make a contest out of this - whoever guesses who the author is wins a prize :)
Guest Arisme Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 bah, it'd have been fun just after the simlock was released ... why bother now ? use it and be happy
Guest n4src Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Power off the phone then press and hold the record button and press the power button this will take you to the canary screen which will display your version :) Thanks a lot awarner. I have the 0.98 version. Can i update it? Do i realy need to update it? :? :!:
Guest Arisme Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 I won't recommand updating it if it's fine for you (ie if you can remove the SIM lock if you need it, or backup your system as you want) - it's often better to downgrade the bootloader than to update it  btw this version number is only a reference, as HTC seems to forget to update it from time to time :) if you want the "real" version number, you'll have to make a backup of the bootloader and view it with a hex editor (you don't need to do that unless it behaves "strangely" regarding the different bootloader tricks described here)
Guest n4src Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Well thanks alot for your re. I will leave it AS it.
