Reason for menus being slow

Dunno if this been posted before. It seems that the Programs menu is slow especially if you have folders within it. The slowest folders are the ones that contain many shortcuts to programs/games on SD card. Reason?

It loads icons for each shortcut

So my slowest folder is Games - many shortcuts, all is on SD. The fastest is Accessories, containing standard shortcuts to stuff in ROM.

if you put them in sub folders then it speeds things up a bit.

So i only have rom apps (and not many of those!) in my root menu.. helps muchly.

The problem with sub folders is each time you change folders it recaches the menu for that folder.

If you have everything in root then it will cache it once the first time it runs and then you'll be fine, if you put everything in a folder structure it will keep recaching everytime you navigate around the menu.

Lots of subfolders containing only a few shortcuts would work, but then the menu just becomes a mess.
