Using SPV to connect PC to an IR device?

I know the title isnt very descriptive, but its a bit late!

I'm wondering if its possible to use the SPV in a way like an IR USB Modem, as a friend of mine has a Nokia 8310, and wants to up some tones to it, but her PC doesn't have IR, so I'm wondering if I attach the SPV to the PC through either USB (Cradle) or COM port, is there a way to talk to the 8310 from the PC, using my SPV as a GateWay??
