I find it appropriate to make a new topic for this. The default directory for the ringtones is IPSMApplication DataSounds , couple of ways on how you can override this setting. 1. When a sound is edited (ProgramsSettingsSounds), it writes directly to the registry (for the newbies out there, yes Smartphones has its own registry just like other windows platform). You may use FHM regedit in viewing or editing it. Be warned, make sure you know what you're doing and backup your registry before doing anything, else you might do something you'll regret. Path for the sounds is HKEY_CURRENT_USERControlPanelSounds . Key for ringtone is "RINGTONE0" while for SMS is "SMS". Other keys are self-descriptive like ALARM, SYSTEMSTART etc. You'll notice that any changes made to the ProgramsSettingsSounds will take effect in the Value = 'Sound' . Thereby, you can change your sounds here. It must be in the form Pathsound.extension . Useful topics are posted within this modaco forum. I find the Registry Tweaks by MIDNIGHT quite useful. 2. The easiest way and highly recommended for newbies: A program written in French, Changer Sonneries, can do the trick. It can overwrite the sound settings and can default your directory anywhere may it be IPSM or storage card. This however can only manipulate the ringtone and SMS tone. Don't forget to put "" at the end of the path, else this won't work, example: Storage CardMy Ringtones Changer Sonneries available here: http:www.monolithix.orgSPV_software.html 3. A workaround was developed by MIDNIGHT by copying a file named Normal.Prof.xml to the directory IPSMApplication DataProfiles This aims to create new sound entries (ringtone, sms, email.alarm) within the Profile=Normal. In effect, you can change your sounds through Profile instead of ProgramsSettingsSounds. One thing I haven't tried but I think will work: you may replicate the Normal.Prof.xml e.g. Silent.Prof.xml, by doing this you relive your Nokia experience of individually setting a Profile with varying ringtones, message tones etc, which you can select later on. A detailed explanation by MIDNIGHT is available here: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...ight=normal+zip :) ;) :D

Guest spv_dman Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 Yup, so far I didn't have any problem with replicating the .xml file under profiles :)

Guest spv_dman Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 All files transferred by user to Windows are cleared upon reboot. You must transfer your wav/midi files to IPSMApplication DataSounds (create the "Sounds" folder if its non-existent) instead of Windows.
