Guest spv_dman Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 As far as I know, no one has been successful in doing such stuff  I think that's embedded in the ROM (startup operator screen). I tried using Orange's recently on my SAP and it changed it to a "Sunset" intro screen instead of the "Smart Simply Amazing". Might be a jpeg or bitmap image but it's a systems file no less. See this thread for more info: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...ghlight=startup
Guest country_troll Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 thanks spv_dman i clicked on the thread :) (looks hard) lol.
Guest virgil Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 thanks spv_dman i clicked on the thread :) (looks hard) lol. i've talked w/ one microsoft tech guy about this and its possible to modify these in ROM. If one is equipped in XML programming, its easy- get SDK program from Microsoft and copy XML files in WIndows (ROM) and change parameters for particular JPEG image in start up and embed new JPEG,gif, bmp file u want to appear as start up using file copy/transfer in SDK. make sure you back-up these files. i've not done yet (dont do XML )--but according to Microsoft its possible. good luck man....
Guest grifter Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Hmmm.. that sounded strange. Why would I need to code in XML if all I want to change is the startup logo which is either jpg or gif? I think the issue is that the gif or jpg file that is used for the startup screen is in the /windows folder. As we all know, anything you change in the /windows folder gets reverted back to it's original state when you reboot your phone. So the solution is to find a way to point the startup logo to a location inside /ipsm. my 2c worth. :)

Its like the IO.SYS on the Win9X but since it is stored in the rom, you should better find a way to modify the update. SO, the file can never be redirected.... :?:

Guest dinoalbert Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 no, we can not change the start up logo
Guest Jassper23 Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 no, we can not change the start up logo how about kung change yun smart logo doon sa orange start up logo? parang mas maganda yung orange kesa smart start up
Guest dinoalbert Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 how about kung change yun smart logo doon sa orange start up logo? yes its possible you just have to flash Orange's ROM to your phone....read spv_dman's post...he mentioned he was able to do it..
Guest spv_dman Posted August 3, 2003 Report Posted August 3, 2003 Yeah I was able to change the Smart Logo to Orange when I used the latter's ROM. But not worth it, coz I encountered so many probs with that ROM. First you have to unlock it (locked to orange) and it changed my default settings of GPRS etc, and only works with certified softwares. I don't recommend it at all. Only did it when I was experimenting with my phone. :)
