Guest Pagemakers Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 Each time I try to connect to GPRS on Orange in the UK my phone sticks on the dialling screen about 50% of the time. Why? I thought this bug would have been fixed on the E100. Sadly not!
Guest Bazz Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Hit the hang up button and immeadiately try again. Sorts it out most of the time. Bit of a pain though...
Guest Pagemakers Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 I already do that but I shouldn't have to. It should work first time every time not just now and then.
Guest drblow Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 Try using taskmanager to close IE & then try reconnecting. That mostly works for me. If that fails, try switching radio off/on - that sometimes works too! By the time you've done all that, you might aswell have switched the phone itself off/on - which seems to remedy the problem pretty reliably! Of course, now that we are all supposed to be paying $2 per MB, you could always phone Orange CS EVERY SINGLE TIME IT HAPPENS & complain like hell about the crappy service - thats what I do!!
Guest Tyrant_worm Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 Something else I've noticed which would appear to be I.E software related is that links seem to work a lot less reliably if you 'fit to screen'.
Guest Pagemakers Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Im really pissed off with this now. GPRS only connects 20% of the time first time. Other then that it just says dialling. My email auto downloads every 30 minutes and almost every morning it is stuck in dialling mode. What a pile of crap this really is. Sort it or I am off Microsoft.
Guest Pagemakers Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 Orange told me GPRS dialling sticks because where I use it (Manchester and Birmingham) up to 30 GPRS nodes are down or operating on limited capacity. Guess we are on for a refund then :)
Guest MECX Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 in nottingham the GPRS seemed to work flawlessly for me but in norwich (where i have a poor signal) it does get stuck alot. i have the 'quickclose' app on speed dial so i just do that and it sorts it out most of the time :? i agree tho pain in the arse just like sending texts that fail.
