Guest morpheus2702 Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 Battery 4/10 Usability 6/10 Performance 8/10 Features 9/10 Verdict: the E-100 is one of the easiest phones to interface with a PC computer, making it a doddle to synchronise contacts and appointments. Backup of data to Orange servers is a nice touch, and software updates can be downloaded very easily. The screen is better and while the joystick takes some getting used to it's a great imrpovement over the original version. The keypad is more usable too. But there's still not much software available for it, and the lack of Bluetooth is significant. Fair comment or a load of b******s?
Guest Gorskar Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 Well I think there is quite a bit of software, considering the number of Smartphones sold. Agree that the lack of bluetooth is significant though.
Guest markd66 Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 And if the screenshots are to be believed it looks like they reviewed one of the early 'press' E100s with 1.3.7 firmware...... Cheers, Mark.
Guest Brody Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 There's tonnes of software! I take it they're referring to the lack of word document readers and spreadsheet programs (excel!).
Guest amo Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Even the lack of bluetooth isn't that significant imho - I mean lets face it, the percentage of us that actually have any bluetooth devices that we would want to use the phone with is extremely low
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 I agree with AMO, does anybody actually have any BT devices?
Guest nickcornaglia Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 None other than a headset. I cant see using it with anything other than that. But that's not really that big of a deal. The headset works just as well and you dont have to charge it seperately!
Guest Gorskar Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 I would like bluetooth though (I admit I dont yet have any other bluetooth devices) 2 player games would be much more reliable over bluetooth than IR as would file transfers, and it would be ideal for a headset (providing it is a STEREO headset - something that jabra have not yet come out with  )
Guest neilg Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 I am one of those difficult people - I use a bluetooth PC and a bluetooth headset - I use my mobile as my only phone and the SPV not having bluetooth has meant it has been resigned to my 2nd phone. It is just so handy to be able to sync contacts and calendar without taking the phone out of my pocket - or even use it as a modem with the PC. And the headset was only 50 quid and is great to use when I am constantly on the phone. If I hadnt started using BT then I probably wouldnt miss it but now I have been converted to bluetooth I find it hard to live without. Still wouldnt be without my SPV though.
