Guest micropathic Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Due to the success of beta testing so far, I am posting a link from which you are free to download the 2.0 beta version of Rubber Stamped Data Sync. What this means is that if you delete a file on the Smartphone or PC (within a pair of directories you are synchronizing) it will reflect the deletion on the corresponding device. Other Updates: *Revision also includes a method to clear the synchronization log throug the gui interface by way of the options menu. *Double clicking on the software's icon in the system tray will now show/hide the software. 1.0.2 *Revision features a user friendly help file and improved sync performance from smartphone to pc ********************************************************** Software is now at version 1.0 and the full version is available commercially at smartphone.net ********************************************************** This is the newest version of what was formerly known as "Smart Sync-It". Due to its name similarities with many other products I changed its name so as not to confuse anyone. The software still does what did before, however it has now been adapted to run on the MS .net framework. Things changed in this release include: [*] Now works with application locked devices [*] MS .net platform compatability [*] Longer fully functional trial period (Was 14 days, is now 30 Days) [*] Skinning disabled due to update(looking to include this in future versions) [*] Ability to type in the path to sync from the smartphone/pc in addition to the normal "browse and select" type of method Download software HERE Requirements include the .net framework which is a free to download HERE As always, please post any bugs/comments/suggestions in this thead. Thanks for testing my software! '**************************************************** Hi everyone, This is my first beta release of Smart Sync-It and it has only had limited testing in which I used Windows XP and an unlocked smartphone. So obviously I need some people to help by beta testing the application so I can effectively continue development and then finally release the resulting application. Smart Sync-It is an app I decided to write after receiving my smartphone and realizing that I wanted to add some extra functionality to it. The program features a system tray icon and the ability to "autosync" everytime you connect your phone. This software doesn't install any extra software on the phone, it just creates a directory to sync to your files to. Updates: This software will now allow you to sync ANY file to and from ANY directory on your smartphone (including your storage card) and any directory on your PC. This software will sync all files contained within whatever directories you choose to sync, however subdirectories are currently excluded. Also, if anyone has a "locked" phone and you try this software, I would be interested to see how it functions as the software doesn't actually install any additional software on the smartphone device itself. Please send any comments or feedback to [email protected] or post in this thread.RubberStampedData.com
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Nice idea, not something I would use a great deal but I'm sure there are many members who would. All the best with the app Ashley :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Slight problem :? Went to run the app and it says that the trial has now expired :)
Guest micropathic Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Ok, I changed the code a little bit, would you mind trying to install the version attached to this post? Thanks
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Yep works now :) One suggestion, how about an option of being able to sync to the storage card instead of the IPSM folder? helps to save space on the phone.
Guest micropathic Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Glad it works for you now. I am in the process right now of implementing the type of functionality you suggested. For instance, my next step with the software will be to allow you to sync any directory you want to an From the PC or Smartphone. If all goes well, this may be useful as a backup solution as well, so that if you ran a sync in the root of a directory then you will be able to save all the data from your phone to your pc. Thanks for your help with beta testing the application!
Guest TheCardinal Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 any news about the progress of your program?

Guest micropathic Posted July 26, 2003 Report Posted July 26, 2003 See my original post in this thread for new updates to the Smart Sync-It software and to download the newest beta version. If you have previously downloaded Smart Sync-It, this version will restart your 14 day trial. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and as stated above, if you have any comments or feedback, you can email me at [email protected] or just post within this thread.
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 Working fine in W2K Couple of interface issues (I know its still Beta): (1) You can type a path into the "Browse" window, but it doesn't use them when you press Save (2) At 1024x768 the windows and textboxes are kinda huge, you could easily save a lot of screen space with a bit of shrinking... doesnt affect the system, just makes it look better! (3) I would find it useful to put the sync history into a database, so you can search it, not sure many other people would want that though (4) It seems to check the Device for files, sync them, them check the PC for files and sync them. You could potentially speed it up by tracking which files are sync'd which way and then skipping them for the reverse process. I'm only syncing 4 files, so the speed is OK Couple of ideas for extra features: (1) The option to sync to network/external PC drives. That would be very useful (2) An include/exclude option. E.G. include *.rgo, exclude *.mdb Nice job though, let us know as and when new versions come out!
Guest drblow Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 could this be used to sync homescreen images to the home folder on the phone, so that as i save an image in my pc folder it automatically saves it to the phone? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 It basically copies file, so it can copy the images or the .hme file, but it can't install the .hme file
Guest drblow Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 Mmm... so, if I am messing with homescreen images - I could sync the IPSMHome folder, & when I save the jpg in my PC, it will automatically update in the phone?? If so, that would save me valuable seconds while skinning!!
Guest micropathic Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 Wow, I hadn't checked this post in a while... thought it had died out! Anyhow thanks to everyone testing the app. And yes, I guess it could update your homescreen file (although not install an .hme, but you could sync that file). Or, if your current homescreen was a certain image and you "synced" that image it's possible that you could refresh the home screen, although that might require a restart?, I dont know, never tried it Also, I will try to make it's size more compatable w/ different resolutions and I am still working on the speed issue. I have also noticed some issues when trying to sync the windows directory. In it's current release (beta 0.05) which I will post here, you can sync up to 6 directories at a time. P.S. (Also just as a note to Modaco admins, I'm sorry about the cross-post in the Modaco plus forum, I honestly thought this thread had died out, but apparently not)
Guest micropathic Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Smart Sync-It Beta 0.06 Released: Changes in version 0.06 include: 1. Updated Interface to fit better in lower screen resolutions 2. Application's form is now Skinnable!! Smart Sync-It Beta 0.07 Released: This version fixes a bug that caused the app to run its process in the background more than onece. Makes for slightly better performance. Note: DO NOT COPY THE CAB FILE TO YOUR PHONE, IT'S FOR THE PC ONLY. JUST EXECUTE THE SETUP.EXE FILE Download it here: Smart Sync-It Beta 0.07 THANKS!
Guest chucky.egg Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Any chance of a longer "trial" period? 14 days is kinda brief - especially when you're not (yet?) selling the software and are offering it as Beta.
Guest micropathic Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 I will soon have another release out, as I am right now converting my VB 6 code to VB .net. I'll make the trial the standard 30 days as that is pretty much the standard trial length. Thanks for testing the software! -Marcus
Guest micropathic Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Please see initial post for new updates!
Guest micropathic Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Please see top again! and Please give my software a try! Thanks
Guest micropathic Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 So, I know that the software has been download quite a few times since its release. Any objections to this software going fully commercial? Anything more bugs that need fixing? Comments, anything....
Guest micropathic Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 Also, any suggestions for the price would also be helpful!! (other than free of course because I can't really do that as I need to at least make back the money I paid for VB eventually) -Thanks
