BAD SERVICE EXPERIENCE WITH BRIGHTPOINT PHILIPPINES

to all,

I've had 2 bad experiences with Brightpoint when I had my SAP repaired on 2 separate ocassions. Just want to share:

(1) I brought my SAP to BP to have the infamous "chipping keypads" and "sunken left softkey" replaced. Before handing over my SAP, I specifically told the CSR to make sure that dust particles don't go in when the cover is removed. She said not to worry since it only happens when the customer requests that the screen be cleaned.

When my SAP came back out, I noticed that there are already some dust particles inside, so I called this to the CSR's attention. I also noticed that the left softkey was still sunken. The CSR told me that they can't replace the sunken key since it was still intact (hindi pa naman bali, sir.). So I decided to take the SAP home instead and come back another day. BUT NO!! The CSR said, "sir, patingnan nalang natin sa loob uli, tutal andito na rin kayo". So in my SAP went again. After 5 mins, to my horror, my disassembled SAP came out and was placed on top of the CSR's desk. She told me that the dust particles could no longer be removed and if I wanted to, I could use my handkerchief to wipe the screen! WHAT?!?! So in my most composed stance, I sternly told the CSR :

a. Why was my disassembled SAP brought out of the repair area? It is standard operating procedure that units bing repaired be handled only by the technicians inside the work area.

b. That she told me before that wiping the screen would only invite more dust particles and why did she suggest now that I use my handkerchief to wipe the screen? tsk tsk.

Man, talk about poor quality control. I already brought this issue up by sending a formal complaint to them via email (thanks to dinoalbert for providing the contact info) but I have yet to receive a reply. And oh, the casing was poorly opened that it showed pry marks and some dents on the side.

(2) After approx. 1 wk later, my left softkey finally broke. so i had my unit brought to BP again (no choice since they are the 1 and only authorized service center for SAPs). I was not personally there coz I am at work. They replaced the softkeys. When I got my SAP back that evening, I saw that there are 3 big, smudgy fingerprint marks inside the screen! WHAT THE?!?!?! The person doing the quality control was either blind or simply did not care to not have noticed this.

So, not wanting to bring my SAP back to BP to have them "clean" it for fear of getting it back in worse shape, I consulted trusty old coolsmartphone.com on how to open up the SAP. Having cleaned my t68m for a lot of times before, I'd rather clean the SAP myself. So there, I opened it up, cleaned the screen, and put it back together again without any dust particle left inside. And not to mention -- no dents or scratches.

The only downside is, I used up 4-5 hours cleaning it. And I did it in the most dust-free place in the house -- the CR. hehe...

So, in conclusion, I have no idea how HTC or SMART screens their potential authorized service centers. But based on what I've seen at BP, their screening process SUCKS!

BTW, have ou tried bringing this up to BP...as in the main office... not the Philippine branch?

As it seems, BP is also the recognized ditributor for Qtek products... well, at least that's what I gathered from the Internet.

@grifter,

I too had a bad experience with BrightPoint Phils. I had the glass screen replaced because of a scratch and asked a favor for my brother-in-law to bring it to BrightPoint. When I got the unit back in the evening, there were several strands of fine hair/dust and worse of all 2 smudged fingerprints.

I do not have the time to bring this back myself and did not want to inconvenience my brother-in-law again so I opened the unit myself and cleaned it using one of those 3M cleaning cloths and I got it done myself...

Good thing there are tips from CoolSmartPhone to follow. I used a credit card to pry upen the sides. 8)

cool! welcome to the "i opened up my SAP" group. :)

btw, where did you buy the 3M cleaning cloth and how much? is that the same material as the cleaning cloth included with the T610? What's so special about the 3M cleaning cloth?

thanks!

once again, BRIGHTPOINT SUCKS! :o

grifter,

The cleaning cloth is ScotchBrite High Performance Cloth by 3M. I believe I got it in Ace Hardware. It does a great job of removing oily fingerprints without having to use alcohol or other liquids.

I don't think it is expensive. It comes in several sizes. I do not recall the price anymore.

Regards.
