Could someone post the updated Globe GPRS settings 'coz the one posted recently doesn't work for me. I have a globe potpaid sim and I was able to use wap with my 7210.

Recently, I changed my phone to SAP (SIM Unlocked SAP) and followed all the GPRS settings posted earlier here but I keep on getting errors like "Unable to connect. Verify you have network coverage and try again." or sometimes "Unable to place call."

Could someone help me please...

Thank you.

It could be the phone :? but it is also possible that there could be a fault with your local site (bit errors) or a GPRS problem that is affecting your connection . I would try the SIM in another GPRS phone again or try the SPV in a different area to make sure.

I assume that both Internet and WAP sites give the same errors. Its worth checking Programs - Microsoft - Messenger (options-passport) and making sure that 'run program when connection is available' is NOT ticked as I had problems with (WSP) WAP sites while messenger was constantly tring to keep an Internet connection open. This could affect attempts to access the Globe WAP homesite.

When testing the phone I sometimes just force the internet connection.

In data connection, Internet Connection=Globe GPRS

In Internet Explorer, untick 'auto detect' and make Select Network=The internet.

Then try and access http://www.modaco.com/mobile

Hope it helps a bit.

PRE-PAID

I don't think pre-paid will give access to the APN internet.globe.com.ph so you could try using APN www.globe.com.ph. Let us know if it works OK and I'll post it in the repository.

Goto Programs - Settings - Data Connections

Menu - Edit connections - Proxy Connections

Menu - Add

Description: Globe WAP proxy

Connects from: The Internet

Connects to: WAP network

Proxy (name:port): 203.177.42.214

Type: WAP

Username: blank

Password: blank

Done, Done

GPRS Connections

Menu - Add

Description: Globe WAP

Connects to: The Internet

Access point: www.globe.com.ph

User name: (blank)

Password: (blank)

Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0

Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0

IP address: (blank)

Done, Done, Done

Make 'WAP Connection=Globe WAP' in data connections.

Done, Done

Internet Explorer

Menu - Options - Connections

Untick 'auto detect' and make 'Select Network = WAP Network'.

Try and access wsp://www.globe.com.ph/globe.wmlc

Martin,

The settings still doesn't work. :)

Same errors appear one after the other. I tried my sim on other GPRS phones and it worked fine, but when I put it back on my SAP with the testing procedures you posted, unfortunately I haven't been successful.

Thanks

don't forget to change the http:// prefix to wsp:// when WAP browsing, otherwise "page cannot be found" error will be displayed.

martin's settings works for me and i'm using globe prepaid. in internet explorer, tick on automatically detect settings.

Oops sorry guys - I thought I'd try something different to see if it would work  Curiosity got the better of me.

For WAP over GPRS I've put the APN www.globe.com.ph back into the WAP connection which I assume works for all present prepaid users. If you have anything different let us know.
