Guest goosegog Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Hi all I have had my SPV since Christmas but today for the first time some little arrows left and right have appeared in the reception level indicator in the top right of the screen. What's all that about then and why have I not seen them before? I haven't been fiddling either! Many thanks Ferg
Guest martin Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Two arrows indicate that you have an active CSD dial up connection. Check your data connection settings for Orange CSD.
Guest goosegog Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Sorry, I'm a newbie! What's a CSD connection? I tried to reboot my phone but it froze so popped the battery out and restarted. The arrows have gone.
Guest martin Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 There are two types of data connection offered by the mobile networks, GSM Circuit Switched Data connection and GPRS Packet Switched Data connection. A GSM connection is charged by its holding time and a GPRS connection is charged by the quantity of data transfered. You can check your settings in Programs-Settings-Data Connections.
Guest Simon Desser Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 I've no idea why, but I've seen the "two arrows" appear on the phone, when it is so low on memory, that you basically can't do anything with it :?: I tested it out once, after playing Tennis, and repeatedly getting "bounced out" of the game, I then rang the phone. The phone never actually rang (although to the caller it sounded like it did) but the two arrows appeared, as if it was making a data call :?
