Guest Swift_gti Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 I just rang orange because my phone has been going mental recently, I got it (SPV) at the start of June, since my voicemail indicator has stuck on, I have loads of dust UNDERNEATH the screen, and yesterday to top it all off the screen went psycodelic colours on me then repaired its self after a couple of hours... So just got off the phone to them, they have sorted the voicemail indicator, said theres nothing they can do about the screen because *it must have been a software glitch* And told me that I must ring HTC to see if they will sort out the dust under the screen!!! He said *they might not do anything, it depends whether they see it as accident damage* I'm like WTF?? it is DUST!!! ARGH! gotta ring HTC later and see what they say.
Guest FrankyG Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 Don't ring anyone; take a trip down to your local Orange shop and tell them that it's defective, I would like a replacement please. It's been done many times so I wouldn't expect a problem. Let us know how you get on... FrankyG
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 Do you have Orange Care? P Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Swift_gti Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 Thanks for the replies, No I don't have Orange Care, but the phone is only a month old so surely it will be covered by some sort of warranty ?!? Will not have Orange Care affect my chances of getting a replacement if I go to an Orange Shop ?? Thanks
Guest Gorskar Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 Orange care will give you a 24hr replacement, no hastle! You will be able to get a waranty replacement, but it might take longer.
Guest morpheus2702 Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Who are the gimps at Orange who said to ring up HTC? Seriously, they expect you to be on the phone to Taiwan at 2am...?
Guest bosshogg Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 I had a similar experience. loads of dust under the screen - (and I mean loads - when I'm playing XRick I can't see the score any more!). Called Orange - they said they would replace it under Care. Then it turns out that because I bumped up my inclusive minutes last year I was moved off the old Talk Plans (which came with complimentary Orange Care) and now I don't have Care. So I said ok, I'll buy Orange Care. So then - because I now have a recorded "fault" on the phone (the dust!) I have to pay a £30 "emergency" fee to get Orange Care. When I argued about this, that the screen wasn't sealed properly and should be replaced under warrantly, they gave me the "spv warranty" number (01295 662109). I haven't spoken to them yet...
Guest Swift_gti Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 yep thats the same phone number they gave me, its for HTC. Let us know how you get on, I won't be able to get to the Orange shop till next week because I've got work to do on the car all this week
Guest Swift_gti Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 any news about what the peeps in the Orange Shop said about yours bosshogg ??
Guest HelloDave Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 yesterday to top it all off the screen went psycodelic colours on me then repaired its self after a couple of hours... That's normal - I've had it before. Seems to happen when the SPV gets a bit cold, and then you take it back into the warm. You get a rainbow effect on the screen (a bit like the patterns in spilt oil) which clears after a while.
