Guest drblow Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 My phone took a freak attack the other day & cut me off in the middle of a call, when I looked at the screen the carrier plugin displayed 'home service' - which I had never seen before - but still had a good signal reading on the meter. I couldn't connect any calls (said 'unable to place call'), send sms or access gprs & couldn't switch off the radio. After a while I noticed that the time had frozen aswell! Switched it off/on & it worked fine! :) Any clues?
Guest XGEOX Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 I've had this come up several times (particularly whilst i was on holiday up north). I've also had 'Service Denied' shown. Not sure about the time stopping though... i have no idea what it means.
Guest mcwarre Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 Yeah, I had this the other day (a network problem?). Did a windows re-boot and it hardware reset itself. Oh bugger......
Guest drblow Posted July 26, 2003 Report Posted July 26, 2003 Today my phone took another freak attack!! It crashed as I answered a call, when I switched it back on the signal meter showed no bars - but I was able to make calls no problem, & the clock had stopped again. As this was the second time in about 2 weeks, I phoned Orange CS. First bloke suggested a soft reset - which according to hime meant remove battery while the phone is on, wait 35 minutes & reboot. That fixed the clock but the signal meter now shows the 'no entry' type symbol for no service - but again, I am able to make calls fine. Phoned CS again, who of course first of all tried to blame the transmitters in my area (which I told them was not true, coz the other 3 people I was with who are also on Orange did not have the same problem). After being passed around about 4 different people in CS, eventually the girl there tried to tell me that my smartphone was meant to 'switch itself off' from time to time, & that it was 'updating' itself!!! They had no explaination for the signal meter except a 'temporary glitch'! Can anybody explain this?? Are they right - is it just a glitch?? Should I be using this as the perfect opportunity to get meself a shiny new E100??!!
