Guest Renegade120 Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 Im going to the US soon and i was wondering if i can use my english charger in america? (with that two pin adapter that came with it)...is that what its for? and can the actual phone be used....im on orange your plan 200 and i have free minutes...lol..i dont suppose i can use them while im there?...what about text messages?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 Yes as it's a switched power supply :) Take a look at the charger and it's printed the voltage range it can handle. You will need to use a plug adaptor though as the pins are different.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Just find a RadioShack Electronics store...they're everywhere. Since the SPV does not come with a US adapter end...I had to buy a whole new charger...that barely fits into the cradle because of it's little hole. I get confused which is which but the SPV comes with an adapter with two rounded prongs and one big one with three prongs. One is European and one is for the UK...you would know better than me which is which. But I'm sure you can find a cheap adapter that converts the two round prong into a two flat prong US compatible....alot easier there than here. Just as it's easier for me to find a US to UK adapter here for use when traveling. Try the airport if you don't have any luck locating one.
Guest Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 im on orange your plan 200 and i have free minutes...lol..i dont suppose i can use them while im there?...what about text messages? You can't use any bundled minutes or texts when roaming on another network in another country unfortunatly. Before you go you should call Orange to find out how much call charges will be (and remember that you will be charged for recieving calls), and also find out which networks offer the best deals (some might be cheaper for voice calls, others might be cheaper for text messaging).
Guest tijerin Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 yes, you can charge it here. i imported my phone. the adapter you need costs about $2 here. you don't need a voltage converter as the charger can handle 100V-240V
Guest nickcornaglia Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Where did you get the adapter...I have not been able to find one.
Guest nobznss Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 If you go to any kind of "traveling" store in the US you should be able to find one. I found my adapter at a luggage store in my local mall. Try that!
Guest ashley.flynn Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 i have been completely unable to recieve a signal in Washington Dc and the Virginia state, but not many people here seem to have mobiles and those that do seem to accept often poor signals :)
