SPV unlock error message

I am trying to unlock a UK version of SPV which runs a 0.98 version of boot loader. When I kill ActiveSync, put the phone in a cradle, go into a Canary screen and run SPVUnlock.exe, it sits there for about 10 seconds and then says:

Retrieving SPV Unlock Code : 0 %- Unexpected answer hideclear 650515 "found a sniffer heh :)"

Error, buffer length is too small

Cmd 1>> - aborting. verify that WCESCOMM is terminated and the phone is in boot loader mode

Please help.

I'm tempted to ask if you killed WCESCOMM (Ctrl + Alt + Delete - kill process)...

... maybe "I kill ActiveSync" is you doing just that!?

But just checking...

I definitely did, it was not running.

Additionally, I tried it on a machine that did not have Active Sync installed at all and got the same error.
