Guest martin Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 Hi chariotz101 when im trying to go to power mangement menu.... it says " the settings could not be opened" i really want to know if this could be fixed by upgrading to 1.5.... or any way around....I'm not sure about this one :? Have you tried turning you phone off and on and trying again. plus when im trying to connect to internet or mms, all i got was " unable to place the call".... i already checked the gprs setttings.. If you have transferred the SIM from a WAP only phone then it may be that the network provider has not yet activated the internet/MMS services in your account. I would give customer services a call and make sure. Are you on contract or prepaid and which network are you with ?
Guest chariotz101 Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 i tried turning the phone on nd off but still the same error on power management..... btw im on prepaid smart network..... and i have new stk supersim2 that i bought in a local cell store..... do i have to bring the fone to SMART or a call would be suficient?
Guest martin Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 i tried turning the phone on nd off but still the same error on power management.....Did you buy the phone from someone ? Personally, I would be tempted to do a hard reset to put the phone in its original state. It might correct any software or registry problems that exist on the phone. http://www.smart.com.ph/NR/exeres/1252E3DB...B20819B6604.htm btw im on prepaid smart network..... and i have new stk supersim2 that i bought in a local cell store..... do i have to bring the fone to SMART or a call would be suficient? I'm not entirely sure about setting up Smart prepaid but I believe you can still use WAP, Internet (web surfing) and MMS. You can try Smarts (Over The Air) configuration but it could just be the settings for a contract SIM? Sometimes prepaid GPRS has the same settings as contract GPRS but with different Access Point Names. Try the GPRS and MMS setup/activation codes from the Globe website. http://www.smart.com.ph/SMART/Value+Added+.../MMS/VS_MMS.htm You can also check your GPRS settings manually from here. http://www.smart.com.ph/SMART/Products/Sma...SAP_UG_data.htm I've given you these links to Smarts website so you can use these as reference if you have to speak to Smart customer services. Let us know if it works OK. Good luck
Guest chariotz101 Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 im on the process of doing the procedures now..... crossing my fingers

Guest martin Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 thanks for the up to date info...... i might go visit smart coz i tried *333 but theyre right, :"slow validation" guess i will do the Hard Reset now........ is it okay if i only have a dummy memory card inserted.... i dnt have m. card yet... it is mentioned on the procedure that i have to secure sd/mmc card first b4 hard resetting.... I think the dummy card may have to be removed ? If you are unsure and you are going to visit Smart anyway then just ask them to do it. At least you'll know what they are talking about now  Remember that a hard reset will restore the phone to its 'out of the box' configuration so backup anything you need first (synch with PC: contacts, calander etc.). Also I would invest in an SD card to store all your programs as filling up the phones memory can cause problems. Topic on SD cards http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=62848
Guest Will Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 remove the dummy card before performing a hard reset.. it can cause problems. Will
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 I had the "Power Management" problem. And the only way to fix it - was a hard reset. I've heard about 5-6 other Danish peeps with that problem as well, so it's probably a "fairly" common problem.
Guest chariotz101 Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 voila!!!!! hard reset solved all of my fone's misery!...... even the wap connection...... thanks guys.... specially martin, you did a good job...morflez nd will.. u guys here rocks... nway im looking forward on my next question though... coz im new to this fone "that rocks"!!! :)

Guest martin Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 The top centre G means that you are now attached to the GPRS network. Try and connect to both WAP and WEB pages using GPRS. wsp://wap.smart.com.ph (WAP) http://www.modaco.com/mobile (WEB) Use the full address (including http:// or wsp://)
