Guest Phooey Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 hi - newbie to SPV E-100 - just upgraded from Nokia 8310e and pleased so far, well sort of.... just discovered the problem of the PO3 vs ActiveSync e-mail one or the other problem - which to me defeats the object of the game - you want your e-mails to sync before you go out for the day then see whats hitting your inbox during the day and come back and sort out the gubbins when you return home? correct? Orange UK said there was no fix for this (as yet) but that the problem had been fixed previously in the original SPV? Is this correct? Is there a fix for the E100? The error message i get when i try to check my inbox remotely are: "you have chosen to use ActiveSync to handle your e-mail, therefore your IMAP/POP account has been disabled. Would you like to remove the messages from the IMAP/POP account?" and.. "You are currently synchronising your mail with ActiveSync. You must disable this from the desktop if you wish to use IMAP/POP to receive mail after configuring the following options. Would you like to continue?" I'm looking for a useful fix/work around/software to upload as I am sure there MUST be something easier than resetting my e-mail options each morning!! please help me you clever people!! cheers - Phooey
Guest fraser Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 Try going into the options for ActiveSync on the PC and disabling mail sync. Then you get tasks, appointments and contacts sync'ed as normal via ActiveSync, meanwhile you get all the mail via pop3. If you get internet pass-thru working, accessing pop3 while on the cradle is faster and free.
Guest Phooey Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 hi Thanks for your reply. I had done that already, but what i don't understand is what is the point in syncing mail that is already on my pc without being able to reply when i am on the move if i need to? i have open access so i am not bothered about dial up costs, its just being able to access my email on the move and then sync it all up if i need to at the end of the day hope thats clear? :? thanks Phooey
Guest fraser Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 I think it works best if you have a full-on Microsoft system, using Microsoft Exchange for email. They have an over-the-air ActiveSync connection, so they wouldn't use pop at all.
Guest Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 Unfortunately this is the main reason I got rid of my SPV. Hopefully version 2 will eliminate this problem.
Guest Phooey Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 thanks guys for your replies cd rider - i am using version two (the one that was launched last week so i preume that is version 2) so it looks like the bug still ain't been fixed! fraser - thanks for your reply - i have given up (for the time being - how impatient am i??) but will post if i find any solutions
