Guest morpheus2702 Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 Just called Orange to complain about dust underneath the screen... "I'm sorry sir, we will have to run a diagnostic on your phone. Unfortunately our systems are down at the moment." GENIUS!!! That must be some diagnostic!
Guest squall Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 hehe mind you what did you excpect calling them at this time !? you probably woke them.
Guest amo Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 No, i have a better responce - "My spv wont turn on" Responce: Erm, sorry sir my computer is saying it has to be refered to technical support. what are they supposed to do if i cant even turn it on!?
Guest amo Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 Im one of the few it seems by the majority that write about their experiences with the orange team that can do my job well enough to meet customers needs.
Guest Hax Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 Shame it wasn't you I spoke to earlier today Amo. Called up because my SPV's suddenly started refusing to write anything to SD card - keeps insisting that it's write protected - double (at least!) checked and it's not. Firstly, nice CS lady runs a diagnostic and comes back telling me that the diagnostics don't have any such error messages listed so has to speak to supervisor. Next, my "query" has been passed to technical support. Now I tried explaining that this is a mechanical switch internal to the SPV, but still have to wait for tech. support to come back. Now I'm wondering if they're gonna tell me to jam a screwdriver into the slot and see if I can fix it that way.... Most annoying thing is the CS lady didn't have the slightest clue what an SD card is! Would've been more useful if I could have spoken to someone who has the slightest technical knowledge about the phone.... Oh well, apparently technical support operate on a maximum of 72 hours turnaround, but they're not normally that long (apparently) and so I should hear something tomorrow (allegedly)... Ooohh - that's today now :) /me: primes phones ready with 150 CS number for first thing in the morning  Hax EDIT: As an aside, I thought that Orange Care was supposed to be instant (more-or-less) no hassle replacement....
Guest squall Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 im experiance of tech support is slighly longer that 72 hours, but they got off with it as the spv was new - december last year, before it got put to tech support the cs person asked me what an spv was... oh dear

Guest martin Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 This is one of my favourites. This was posted by an Orange customer in another forum and is a discussion between themself and an Orange customer service rep. Me: "The On buttons not working" Them: "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" Me: "How will that help?" Them: "I dunno." Me: "OK, Lets skip that, yeh?" Them: "OK. Have you tried deleting your contacts?" Me: "I dont think that will help either." Them: "Yeh, youre probably right." Me: "Right. Can i have a replacement now?" Them: "No. You refused to do my diagnostic tests." Classic :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 Called up because my SPV's suddenly started refusing to write anything to SD card - keeps insisting that it's write protected - double (at least!) checked and it's not. Have you tested with another card? as it could be a faulty switch on the card.
Guest morpheus2702 Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 Well, found out what their diagnostic test is - a check list of excuses to get out of sending you a replacement handset. "I'm sorry sir but the diagnostic is telling me that dust under the screen is actually a cosmetic fault and doesn't actually affect the performance of the phone." After trying to explain that the P&V in SPV stood for 'pictures and & video', and neither look particularly good covered in fluff I got an absolutely GEM of a supervisor. E-100 arrives this evening!
Guest Hax Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 Have you tested with another card? as it could be a faulty switch on the card. I believe that the switch is purely mechanical and has no electrical parts to it - it's akin to the switch on floppy disks - the drive (or slot in this case) just detects the absence or presence of the "switch" in the appropriate position - there is no interaction with the actual storage medium itself. If this is correct then there's no point in trying another card. If I'm wrong then please tell me and I'll try and get hold of one and go cap-in-hand to Orange with an apology.... Hax
Guest Swift_gti Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 morpheus do you have orange care ? if not how did you get them to swap it and not send it off for repair??
Guest morpheus2702 Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 Yep I have Orange Care. Emphasized that was my second SPV, that I use it for business and can't be without a phone. But more than that I guess I was lucky in getting a supervisor that listened to me rather than reading from a script.
Guest Rob.P Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 thanks Morpheus, that's the reason I was looking for, I got turned down as well on the dust under the screen, I will phone back as I can't actually be without a phone, I think it's against the laws of my business that I can't be contactable :) [edit]It worked getting a replacement tomorrow, although I think it will be the normal SPV, not that I'm too bothered at least I get a phone without the dust[/edit]
