Hi

I'm not sure if this has been raised before but my SPV suddenly decided to deleted the contents of the Inbox folder without any user interaction.

Its fair to say I had a LOT of SMS messages stored in this folder but I did not do anything to clear out the inbox. Does the phone has some sort of thresholds for clearing out folders?

Here are the steps I took before the SPV decided to clear out my Inbox folder:

1. went into deleted items

2. opened a deleted sms message

3. pressed reply

4. composed sms text

5. pressed send

6. message sent

7. SPV DECIDED TO CLEAR OUT INBOX FOLDER!

I can't imagine I can repro this. It seems like a software bug to me. As you can imagine I am v.annoyed :x and would like to know why this happened.

FYI:

Firmware 1.5.0.29

Thanks

Ben

I can't get it to reproduce this? are you sure you are looking in the Inbox folder? The only

limit to messages isl if you fill the IPSM memory (I have done this :))

Yes, 100% positive. My SPV deleted all items in the INBOX folder ONLY. The sent items, deleted items + other offline folders still contain messages. I am confused why my phone decided to do this following the actions I took in my original post.

Thanks

Ben

Is it possible to recover my inbox? I looked in the IPSM directory and I have a 1.2mb cemail.vol file and hundreds of smaller files in the sub directories.

Thanks again

This happened to me also - very annoying - i was told by various forum members that my inbox was unretrievable :)

It may be possible, but is it worth the effort (i think the phone db explorer - on www.monolithix.org may help)

It sounds like the cemail.vol file got corrupted (probably you were in the inbox, when a new sms arrived and it corrupted as you exited.)

No 100% reason, i've just tried to replicate, but no joy, so it's just a 'freak' occurrance.

Will

Rename cemail.vol and reboot phone to clear it all out

Hi,

My phone without any interaction lost its IN box as well.

After loving my new phone last week its seems to have turned into a nasty piece of work that forgets its SMS messages, won't remind me when SMS messages arrive, and tells me I have voicemail when I havn't.

Help!!

Hi me again..

I have been told by orange that this is a "feature" of the OS and until Orange issue an update I have to put up with it.

I have lost my inbox 10+ times now more often than not when I turn the phone off - but at times they just dissapear on their own.

This isn't such an issue with emails as when I sync I get them back.. but losing my SMS messages is a real pain.

My phone also does not warn me when I get a new SMS message (it neither beeps or vibrates, and the home screen permanently says SMS(0) - as does the EMAIL(0)) even when new SMS messages "sneak" into my inbox.

I have tried all settings, sounds, profiles etc to no effect.

I was told by Orange to do a reset by holding down the power/rec buttons etc but I figure this only works for the earlier SPV?

Am I the only person with these problems because if I am - or we are few - maybe my handset is faulty?

Can someone help me out here?

Cheers

Albert

Why not just send it back to HTC under the year warranty? - its what most people have done on this site.
