Welcome to the site :)

If the PC restarted during the update it may have damaged your phone,

try re-running the update again.

What does the PC show when you try and run the update?

I'm off for a while but have a look at the posts below this one as some other members have had similar problems.

I am currently having the same problem...

Is there another way to flash the ROM other then via serial/usb cables? what i mean is, is there a way to get a ROM image onto an SD card and Flash the ROM via the bootloader? i hope there is and i hope that there is some one out there that has the same problem... this is a cry for help (lol)

Yes it is possible but you need to know how to use Winhex and also have a copy of an update on bin file.

If you don't know what I mean then don't try. I'm not 100% with it myself.

Another option is to copy the bootloader from another phone using USBterm onto SD card (instructions are in the FAQ section (this is under construction so please do not post questions)

As for the above problem if you have already cancelleed the update reboot the PC and try re-running the update

from the canary screen.

I got it working!!!!!

I had used Winhex to help me upgrade my bootloader and sure enough i had upgraded my bootloader from .93 to .98 and now i am able to upgrade normally, I didn't get a chance to try it the way you had mentioned but i am curious about it.. so i will give it a try... thanks a LOT for your quick response! people like you make this forum the best!!!!

I hope that maybe in the future i can extend my hand to help you :)

Thanks again

Help, I have a tanager from Smart Philippines, I tried to downgrade the software using the instructions posted here:http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?p=265291#265291

Unfortunetely my phone is now stuck in the canary mode, I tried reinstall the rom but i get and error message error 113: update error. Then I tried to reinstall the original upgrade(provided by Smart) but when I got the message Upgrading from ROM Ver: it is now blank, It use to have Upgrading from ROM ver 1.xx to rom ver 1.xx. and when i click install it says error 102: Image file checksum error then it said The rom image file to be used for the upgrade is corrupt. Download the correct ROM upgrade and try again. I did but still the same. I ever bought it to SMART and they were not able to fix it, they told me to wait for a week because the SD card with the rom will be available by then, can anyone help? im a newbie so maybe a deatail instruction will help. Thanks.

got the same problem... what i did is this..

delete all upgrading files on your pc including directory.

download the sap.zip upgrade file from smart.com.ph to your pc.

connect your phone to your pc in a canary screen.

unzip the file, this will automatically detect and upgrade your phone.

if you get the same error, just repeat the process as if your upgrading a phone for the first time.

if this does not work, then do the process in another pc.
