Guest Nikhil Posted July 27, 2003 Report Posted July 27, 2003 I received my SPV today and love it but have one issue so far... I can't seem to get my Earthlink dial-up/CSD working despite my entering all pertinent information...It just dials and then displays an error "Unable to complete call"... Any ideas? The same dial-up info worked fine on my Nokia 3650.
Guest Nikhil Posted July 27, 2003 Report Posted July 27, 2003 Right now, I have it configured: To dial Earthlink under Internet Connections. Earthlink is set up under Dial-Up Connections: Earthlink Connects to: The Internet Country Code: 1 Area Code: 718 Phone Number: 6194492 and my Username and Password. It just dials and then disconnects after a little while
Guest nickcornaglia Posted July 27, 2003 Report Posted July 27, 2003 Under DataConnections>Options make sure your timeout is longer as CSD is a slow connection. Try 5 minutes. Did you try a differnet number. When I had earthlink on a PPCPE device...I remember some numbers didnt work as well as others. Try leaving the countrycode and areacode blank and put the full number into the phone number field 17186194492. If you are using TMobile and have national calling...you can try calling into their number...(man I have to look that up...I forget what they were! I used to use that on my old Treo270 instead of EL)
Guest Nikhil Posted July 27, 2003 Report Posted July 27, 2003 hmm the timeout is already set to 5 minutes and for dialing, it won't let me enter the phone number in that format without a country and area code.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted July 28, 2003 Report Posted July 28, 2003 This is a stupid question... On Data COnnections....it specifies the CSD profile and not a GPRS one...correct? Not so stupid question.... Are you on T-Mobile?
Guest Nikhil Posted July 29, 2003 Report Posted July 29, 2003 Hi- Yes, I had selected "Earthlink" as my connection. I am on T-Mobile (NYC area)
Guest nickcornaglia Posted July 29, 2003 Report Posted July 29, 2003 Try going to Modem Link on your phone Connection = Serial...com1 Baud Rate = 9600 Click Menu...activate.... then try again...see if that works.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted July 29, 2003 Report Posted July 29, 2003 forget the modem thing....try this. try not entering in a country code (dont enter the 1) if that doesnt work and you ISP number is local... try without the area code too. If that doesnt work....I give up. But let me know how you make out either way! Good Luck. Nick
Guest Nikhil Posted July 29, 2003 Report Posted July 29, 2003 Nope, no go...I give up too haha--I'm just going to sign up for T-Zones GPRS. Thanks for the help though!
Guest nickcornaglia Posted July 29, 2003 Report Posted July 29, 2003 A much better solution. (by the way it's only $19.99/mo unlimited!)
