Guest solo Posted July 28, 2003 Report Posted July 28, 2003 SPV shows no service and no bars - but can still make calls and browse internet. I have switched off and on a few times but still displays the above. Has anyone else come across this? Any ideas? Thanks Solo
Guest cybercamel Posted July 28, 2003 Report Posted July 28, 2003 This happens to mine sometimes as well, it usually can be fixed by turning the phone on and off! But occasionally I have to take the battery out, so give that a go. I don't know if it happens to anyone else, but I guess it's a bug.
Guest b1uepower Posted July 28, 2003 Report Posted July 28, 2003 Yeah.. ive had that a cuple of times.. it confused me :?
Guest amo Posted July 28, 2003 Report Posted July 28, 2003 I had this problem a few times, make sure you can still receive messages and calls as this wasn;t the case for me. I could still call out however. Orange will replace your phone but unfortunatly, its likeley to go off to tech support first.
Guest Swift_gti Posted July 28, 2003 Report Posted July 28, 2003 mine drops out of calls even when its showing good reception. Done it 3 times the other day, ironic thing was, I was on the phone to Orange tech support at the time :)

Guest cybercamel Posted July 28, 2003 Report Posted July 28, 2003 So if this is a known problem and Orange replace it, is there a time limit after which they won't? I've had mine for 7-8 months now!
Guest drblow Posted July 28, 2003 Report Posted July 28, 2003 Yeah, this has happened to me a few times recently - also with mine, the clock freezes at whatever time it happened. The last time I spoke to Orange CS, they fobbed me off with rubbish excuses like 'it's a network problem' - which it clearly wasn't as other people I was with who also have Orange phones had no similar probs! Soft reset fixed the problem, but if it keeps happening I think I'll be getting a new phone!
Guest Siraris Posted July 29, 2003 Report Posted July 29, 2003 Since this is the most recent post on a problem where Orange replaces your phone, I wanted to bring up a question I've had. People continually ask questions about problems/bugs with their phones, that other people experience as well, and they then tell how they send the phone to Orange and they get a new one and it works fine. Well obviously it works fine, since yours worked fine before. I don't see why anyone would be pleased with replacing their phone, as most of the issues (such as this) sound like a software/hardware issue that Orange/MS needs to FIX, not just send out a new phone. I sold cell phones for 2 years at the beginning of college, and if someone came in with a bad battery, or the phone was going nuts for no reason (usually they short circuited it or something of that sorts) we'd have to change it out, but if it was something that was an issue with the phone... I dunno, I'm ranting sorry :) Yesterday I went into a resteraunt and had this same problem, althuogh I may just not have had service (damn US GSM :o ) but I think it just showed no bars, but still my service provider logo. I powered it on this morning and it was fine. Just my .2$
