Incase someone still has the original SD card from orange and wants to clear the Orange stuff off it (to give more space).

If you use SP Task Manager, it gives you the option to format SD/MMC card. This actually works!. I had tried several times on the pc to delete the Orange stuff but it didn't work. This however worked first time.

:) :o :P Hope this helps some of you.

Hi Chickster,

cheers for the info!

When I got my spv I deleted all Orange stuff off the 8mb sd card by exploring from my pc ... this seemed to work ok, although I was only left with about 6.6mb available. I know you don't get exactly what it says on the sticker (cos of the file system etc  ) but does formatting give more than this at all?

Cheers,

Joel

Nopes .. 6.6 sounds about right for an 8mb card!

I put a 128MB SD card in today and it would not recognise it - it was brand new from Jessops..... is there a prob with using a 128MB card? Should I get a smaller one or is it just faulty?

Hi Simon, welcome to the site!!

The spv can handle any size card you can throw at it, so that shouldn't be the problem. Try formatting the card ... see this thread :)

Hope it works for you mate,

Joel

It won't let me format it - it spits an error out.

Must be a duff-un then.

Thanks anyways :)

Hmm, sounds like it

only other thing I could suggest is getting a card reader (£10 from ebuyer) and trying to format the card from your pc using that. If that doesn't work, get the card replaced (maybe for a different brand? What brand have you got at the moment?) ... the card reader will still have been a good investment as it's much faster than activesync!!

Brand is a Jessops one - last one they had (maybe someone flogged me a faulty one?) Will take it back tomorrow.
